darthsloth74
Hi can anyone tell me why I suddenly have Dark Brotherhood assassins after me? Who has my character upset to warrant contracts for their elimination? I understand the Bounty Hunters since another of my characters was always doing bad stuff and getting bounties but my other characters a total saint. Is like the Talon Company/Regulators from Fallout 3 all over again? That would be weird since I didn't think Skyrim had any form of Karma meter. darthsloth74
You pissed off someone. Yeah but who? If I knew who it was I'd introduce them to my axe.
Nidge68
Try to kill them, then search bodies for contract letter, that usually holds the key to why they are after you.

vock
It's the Dark Brotherhood quest. Do a quick Google search on it on how to be initiated into the group.
Handofbane
It's the Dark Brotherhood quest. Do a quick Google search on it on how to be initiated into the group.Nope, different assassin with a different note. I have had this happen a couple times before, amusingly enough it has been an Argonian every time too, and am guessing it has to do with the main quest line, though I am not certain exactly what the trigger is. I have run into the assassins whether I have made it as far as killing a dragon (or more), or ignored the MQ completely beyond Riverwood - and most definitely have gotten it on characters who have nothing to do with the Dark Brotherhood. darthsloth74
I think its something to do with Markath and the Foresworn quest myself. I did that quest with another character but my current character hasn't followed that quest at all, apart from visiting Markath and thats it. Not sure if thats a trigger for it to occur or not. Yes they always have the letter but that never leads to any form of quest. Seems a bit silly really. Plus it has nothing to do with the Dark Brotherhood quest line, I've finished that as a seperate character and the only people who came after me were bounty hunters. Nanjiro
I recall reading about the function of NPCs where if you steal something from them, they may send an armed thug after you later. Can you picture that sweet shopkeeper getting a corpse ready and pray for the night mother in order to avenge his stolen petty soul gem?On a more serious note: Go to UESP wiki (Unofficial Elderscrolls Pages) to get some info and start out the dark brotherhood quest line.
