Deleted8664835User
Hello everyone, My Fallout 3 keeps crashing. I have tried EVERYTHING, but my crashes remain. But I don't want to give up!I need to find out what specific things lead the game to crash... but I have no idea how to do this.I would like to work on this problem and to solve it, but I just don't know where to start.So... If any of you guys know a way to trace the cause of a crash, please share it with me. We need to cure this mess of a game!
Oubliette
The following is standard trouble shooting for issues and crashes not pinned to an obvious source but for a modded install, verifying your game files through steam is only step 1 aka the easy step.First - have you verified your game files through steam and updated to the latest patch?Second - uncheck all your mods, start a new game, save after the chargen. This will be your 'tester save.' Do Not Overwrite or Delete this save.Third - Enable five mods.Four - Go into game with your tester save. Run from one end of the game world to the other. Go into a few cities. Interact with a few things that are related to your problem. See if anything crashes/doesn't animate properly.Five - No sign of problems? Repeat 3-5. It crashed or something's not right? Go to step 6.Six - something not right? uncheck one of the five mods then go back to your tester save, repeat step 4.Continue until you have found and fixed your error. Deleted8664835User
Thank you for the reponse.Game files have been verified through Steam, and I run the latest version of the game. I'm pretty sure my crashes aren't due to mods. I've made several clean reinstalls and checked the game without any mod.It still crashed.

Deleted8664835User
Thank you for your response and time. When does it crash? Random or reproducible? The vast majority of the crashes I experience occur randomly when I walk in the Wasteland, and similar outer areas. In interiors, I never crash. This is the only type of crash I've never managed to fix. Where is your game installed? I have created a folder called "Games" and moved my Steam folder out of Program Files (x86) to this new folder. C:\Games. Witch OS are you on? Windows 10 Pro.I experienced the exact same issue on my previous PC which was on Windows 7. Did you change anything in your INI? Yes, I have done the multicore fix, as well as some other changes related to mouse acceleration. Haven't touched iPresentInterval though. Do you use ENB? No, but I do use SweetFX. With or without, the crashes remain. What is everything you've tried? Everything that is mentioned here : https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=149946772And here : http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/21888/? Deleted8664835User
Thank you very much. My last save : https://files.fm/u/4pvpz7qh#/view/Sauveg.+44+-+Sandy_+Megaton_+01.59.33.fos I would be surprised if it is corrupt, since I haven't overwritten anything, and haven't used autosaves. This is a new game I started after yet another clean reinstall. At this point I've already crashed twice : once in the Wasteland, once in Megaton (surprising).
Purr4me
in that saved game I found this:[X] Fallout3.esm[X] Anchorage.esm[X] ThePitt.esm[X] BrokenSteel.esm[X] PointLookout.esm[X] Zeta.esm[X] Unofficial Fallout 3 Patch.esm[X] Eyebrows Fix.esp[X] EnhancedSkies.esp[X] =Subtle=MotionBlur1.1.esp[X] DLCdelayer.esp------------------Get rid of the ( = ) sign and try again. never use a mod with characters like that in the name. no sorting tool will even register the file as it is. Just encase..be cautious.
