calling experienced modders... Skyrim Multiplayer?

Hello there everyone. Firstly, i'd just like to say that me ( and my friend ) who are pitching this idea, have NO experience in coding, or programming. So if the idea is not possible, do let us know :).

We each have been discussing the possibility of making Skyrim arena type battles. This would involve joining a server, and facing off against another person. This ofcourse being known as 'Arenas'. The players would join using the character they already have, or be prompted to make a new one with 50 levels worth of skill points. ( we're not sure if either are possible). Then they would face of in PvP ( player versus player ) until 1 died. We are looking for experienced coders, programmers, modders, whatever. To help us create this mod which would be extremely fun!

To avoid hitting you with a wall of text, anyone who wants to know more, just message me or reply here and i will tell you the details of what we have planned.

There is no way you could make this game online. Why not? The game engine does not support it, and we do not got a server to connect to.

The best way would, as CampanaAliquanta said, to remake the game. However, that means you'd have to make everything from scratch. That way, you might avoid being sued. Of course, chances are you'd be anyways.

I know this is probably not what you want to hear, but if you want to learn to create mods, start with something really simple. Maybe one of you could branch into artwork and try a bit of retexturing to start with. The other one have a look at the Creation Kit (when it comes out) or using TESnip and scripting, to change simple stuff that's already in the game.

Then work your way up to putting in your own content e.g. creating your own models, recipies, designing and building new areas or questlines etc.

Multiplayer is the hardest kind of game to create and involves all sorts of abstract mathematics and netcoding and you do not, ever, want to start there :P

There are a lot of excellent freeware products like GIMP and blender for artwork and other threads on the forum that explain some simple things to get you started (Like this one!).

To learn more about modding in general simply pray to google for enlightenment.

The thing is, if you take too much concept from a game, the studio can take it as copyrighted. This means they can ask you to back off, or sue you. They got the money to do so.

Even though you do not break any laws by making everything yourself, it might piss of the wrong people.

I would advice against this.
