Need help installing mods. / Dragon Age Origins

Recommended Posts

Okay, so i've installed some mods like the dazip mods that work with modmanager. but when i try installing some physical features to my character (eye colors, hair styles, morrigan/leliana features), it doesn't work. *I've found multiple ways to get into bin_ship folder and or override*, and then i follow the directions if there's a "read me", and put the folder and what not in the folder. When i go in game, the eye colors and hair color didn't work, and morrigan and lelianas heads weren't there. basically all you could see was face and thats it. I'm really having issues with this and it would be much appreciated if someone will help me. thank you

Do the files have a file called "chargenmorphcfg" with them? I ask because there would be a conflict with the chargenmorphcfg already in the Override folder. You'd need to run DA_CharGenMorph_Compiler_v124-971-1-2-4 to find any conflicts.

As for Morrigan and Leliana's make sure the .mor files are labeled corrected and that there aren't more than 1 of each file in the Overide file (need to check subfolders)

The first thing to know is that if you're talking about using anything from Dragon Age - Redesigned, you've selected one of the hardest possible mods to install and tailor. I would recommend against using it as your first attempt at modding DAO. Among other complexities, it requires placing some of the extracted files in "non-standard" (for a mod) locations.

Second thing to know is that any mod that affects the PC's appearance during the original Character Creation process (new hair styles, eye colours, etc.) requires two parts; the actual "colour", "texture", or "mesh" resource files that provide the new look, and the chargenmorphcfg.xml (cgmc.xml) file that provides the mapping of those resources onto the character. Since the game can only use a single cgmc.xml file at a time, the settings for the new elements have to be "edited" into the existing file. Since doing that by hand is error-prone, (not to mention tedious) most of us use the CharGenMorph Compiler utility by TerraEx for this task.

If you tell us more about which mods you're trying to use and what you've done so far, we might be able to provide more detailed guidance.

well, i've tried putting a screenshot file attached from the mods of leliana and morrigan, but the file was too big. and yes, the directions needed me to put the "chargenmorphcfg" file into the override folder, in which it is in that folder. Also, they are currently in the override folder.. the contents are "hf_genfl_morrigan.mor" & "chargenmorphcfg" & "hf_genfl_leliana.mor" & "SA_Leliana" I did exactly what the directions in the "read me txt" asked.

Any of the NPC facemorph mods (ones that use a ".mor" file) don't need a chargenmorphcfg.xml file at all.

That's only used for mods that add additional options for the PC's appearance during the CC phase.

Editing a screenshot down to meet the Nexus size restrictions is a trivial task, so try again.

And you still haven't identified the mods you're trying to use, so there's not much we can do to help...
