Help Wanted (Helmet Mesh Replacing)

I am having some issues replacing the models of the Dragonscale Light helmet mesh with the Daedric Heavy. I unpacked the .bsa file and just changed the names of the dragonscale pieces with that of the daedric and for some reason the helmet is not working. In the inventory the helmet looks like daedric and on the ground the helmet looks like daedric, but on my male Khajiit model (also tried on Lydia) all it does is remove my ears like I am wearing a helmet (on Lydia it removed her hair) but no graphic is showing. Any ideas on what could have gone wrong? Thanks in advance.

Here is a picture to better help understand the issue.

What race is Lydia? Have you tested it on every race? I believe that some armor/clothing pieces have multiple versions for different races.

Note: I believe all humanoids use the same stuff, only Orcs, Argonians, and Khajiits (and potentially all elves) would use different meshes and/or textures. You are definitely experiencing a mesh issue in that screenshot however.

Can you show me the file for Daedric items as well? I can't use BSAopt because I'm on XP x64. I'm thinking you need to replace all of the different files for Dragonscale with the corresponding ones for Daedric.

Edit: And it's possible that "dragonscalehelmetf.nif" needs to be "dragonscalehelmetf_0.nif" but follow the naming conventions the default files have over my suggestions.

It's hard to say exactly how to pull this conversion off without having the resources at hand... The Dragonscale helmet has more variants than the Daedric one though the Daedric helmet has that one ending in fx . The real trick to getting this to work is to find out exactly which helmet mesh the game calls for which race/gender combination you have (for both Daedric and Dragonscale), then you simply have to rename the right files to the right names (if their mechanisms match up closely enough).
