immortalfrieza Posted November 25, 2011 Share Posted November 25, 2011 (edited) Very recently I experienced a bug where, the very second I became a vampire, my Ebony Shield becames invisible. The shield is equipped, and pressing block causes the same blocking animation, but there's no visible shield, I don't know whether this affects if the shield still blocks damage or not. However, as I've tested so far this bug only seems to affect Ebony Shields, as I've tried equipping hide, glass, dwarven, steel, and daedric shields and found no issues. Here's what I've tried to fix it myself so far: Post vampirism: 1. Unequipping and re-equipping the Ebony Shield.2. Saving and loading, both with the shield equipped and not.3. Equipping a different shield and then re-equipping the Ebony one.4. Purchased a different Ebony shield to the one I was using and equipping that instead. Pre-vampirism1. Loaded an earlier save to ensure it wasn't an isolated incident.2. I was still able to see the Ebony shield after loading.3. Transitioned to vampire both with and without the Ebony shield equipped.4. Transitioned to vampire with another type of shield equipped, still can't see the Ebony shield and did not make the other shield invisible. None of the above have fixed the issue. Would it turn visible if you dropped it or mounted it on a wallmount?Would it turn visible if you gave it to your companion and he/she equipped it?Just asking because this wasn't entirely clear, is it also invisible when in 3rd person view? There are similar bugs with invisible items (havokchild related) and invisible npc's (modifier related), not sure how to fix this one though. You could try dropping the shield in front of you before the transformation, going through the transformation, then saving and quitting and then reloading and picking the shield up. This would quickfix one of the engine related problems with invisible items in the world. Not sure if it would fix the shield though. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I tried putting an ebony shield on a shield rack and it tells me I need to equip a shield while my ebony shield is equipped. Re-equipping or reloading the game wouldfix the issues and they seemed to be random, not related to any player states. As far as the engine is concerned, the probable direct cause of the oblivion bugs should be related to your's. Tt seems more clear with every bug report that they haven't been able to get rid of the old bugs. I delved into the data files and couldn't find any connection between the ebony shields and vampirism. Nothing to suggest the shields get disabled by some script. Can't be sure before the sdk is released, but it's more likely invalid memory triggers or functions. Just curious, what would happen if you would be cured of sanguine vampirism before actually becoming a vampire, then contracting the disease again and then becoming a vampire? MonkeyBoy24 Posted January 15, 2012 Share Posted January 15, 2012 Just bumping this as I have the exact same bug. The shield is invisible while equipped in both first and third person views. You can see it fine when in the inventory or when dropped though. While being a vampire, you can see it equipped on your companions. I load a game before I was a vampire and I can see it equipped.
