MrKit
I recently had to reinstall all of my Oblivion files because of upgrading to a 64-bit processor. I was hoping Oblivion would not crash so much on the newer system. I was wrong. it crashes just as much, sometimes for completely unknown reason. Fortunately, I can sometimes play it for hours without it crashing. The crashes don't seem linked to MODs, as the "vanilla" game runs the same and crashes at the same rate. Now, more than ever, I am seeing those annoying bright yellow pyramids and blothes that get in the way of immersion in the game. Also, Battlehorn Castle is not visible from the outside anymore. The doors show up, but nothing else. When I enter the doors, the interior is okay (except for yellow blothes). This annoying blotch problem also happens in the Copious Coinpurse as well as Castle Dunkerlore. When I use the Batthorn Castle update or fix MOD, the game does not run at all. It gives me the Bethesda logo and then crashes to the desktop. So, I don't use the Batthorn Castle fix anymore. I also bought the latest official MOD from Bethesda, which I can no longer use because the installer only works on 32-bit systems. I was having fun exploring the flooded mansion and looking for ways to get it up to snuf. They offered me a refund, but I am still hoping someone knows a way to make this work in Windows XP Pro 64-bit. Yellow pyramid and blockout blotches : This seeems like a graphic or texturing problem. It should NOT be due to system specs.I am running an AMD Phenom 9600 64-bit processor on a M3A32 MVP WiFi Solo motherboard with 4 GB of RAM, an ATI HD 2600 XT (512 MG) video card, and a 22" widescreen Dell monitor on a 700 watt system with well over a TB of hard drive space. I have tested it with and without the Z-fang controller. It is not the culprit. I almsot never participate in web forums, because I like communicating in email. So, because I will most likely forget to check back, if someone is willing to help me, please write directly to [email protected]. If you want others to read your answer, perhaps you could post it both places. Please put something like "Oblivion" in the subject line so it doesn't get dropped in a spam filter. I have an Argonian named Droddy Slurge that has seen well over 200 hours of gameplay (epic levelling system MOD). I would like to fix these problems and move on with his adventures. Malchik
Your yellow pyramids are caused because some mods have not loaded correctly. Go to your Bethesda Softworks file and look at Data. Files here should all say 'textures/icons/meshes/sound/music' etc. If you find one that has a different title 'Bethesda Softworks/Oblivion/DataFiles/Meshes etc.' the game cannot access those files. The solution is to manually move the contents of these files into the correct place. The same applies if you open 'textures' and find a file named textures etc. They are in the wrong place and need to be moved. If you do not follow what I am saying PM me as this subject has been dealt with often in the past.
