Armor from 3ds max into oblivion

Hello,

I am new here and I hope this is the right section for my request, and I am sorry for my english.

I wanted an IronMan Armor but until now I didn't find a mod for oblivion like that (except for the mask). Since I am rather inexperienced I searched for a finished model. Luckily I found a really great one. Next I tried to make it into a mod with some tutorials... but obviously failed.

I've seen that this was requested almost every year, some even started it but none seems to have finished.

I'll send you 3ds max file of the armor if you give me your email. It would be really nice if someone could at least tell me if this is ok or has to be altered! If someone made a mod out of it, that would be even greater!

Of course! I don't have the the link, but I am pretty sure I can find it.

Edit: Ok, found it. This is the link:

http://darkml.deviantart.com/art/IronMan-Model-3ds-max-FBX-free-178822076

He states that he's not the creator either, but seems to have altered it somewhat.

If he posts a free download link, does that mean it's legal to use ist?

All mods on the nexus are free to download, but that doesn't mean that you are allowed to change and reupload it as your own project without permission, so I would say no. That's not enough to make it ok to use it.

If you really want this specific mesh to be used, you need to find out the original author, and receive permission from him. The guy in the link you posted states that he merely removed some stuff from the original work, whatever that is, so you might not need permission from him though.

Another alternative though, that would be legal, is to just use this mesh to make reference pics from the front, side, top and back, and then use those to create a new mesh of the same object from scratch. Good reference pictures are invaluable to a 3d modeller, which you in this case can get rather easily.

It was never my intention to say it was my project! I just wanted to save time by asking and delivering a foundation.

I'll try to contact the original creator, but in case he gives me permission, how do I prove it?

Recreating the mesh from scratch is surely possible with the given reference.

Got some advice how I should proceed now?

I know that you didn't try to "steal" the credit of the project, but the original author might perceive it differently if they ever find their resources uploaded here.

As for proving that you have indeed received permission, that is actually a very good question that I can't answer with 100% certainty. So I will take the liberation of asking the moderators here so you get a proper answer. I'm just a user just like you who has just read most of the threads in "forum rules and strikes"

In the meantime, you can ask the guy on deviantart you linked to where exactly he got the original.

Ok, I asked him and it looks like I misunderstood the text. What he meant, was that he saw a figurine/model and made it according to that model. So he is in fact the creator of the mesh.

He allowed me to use it however I want.

Soooo, someone willing to fulfill my request? Even though he didn't ask for it, i think it would be nice if you give DarkML credit in the mod description for his awesome work.
