Maelstrom100
Just wanted to preface this topic by stateing that i actually have a above average pc and am able to play fallout 4 on higher level graphics then the game normally allows (e.g. enbs/texture packs) so while having the game run slowly for me is not really an issue.Onto the actual topic however. I have a giant interest in the modding community and also own my own intel atom compute type mini pc (which im actually conver5ing into a pocket pc, e.g. attaching a mibi tft display etc. Etc. ) and being the type of guy i am i was wondering if there was any way to mod the game to get it running on a pc of that caliber? Iv'e seen quite a few low end pc mods and tweaks but i have a few ideas for a few more such as....-a tweak to force the game to only load lod textures-downgradeing the models in the game using a 3d modelling program so the meshes have less vertices.-a mod to load the game in an almost "minecraft" type fashion where everything outside a certain cell or chunk radius is fogged over and invisible to the player. (Perhaps have it configurable so that there are different degrees of the effect?) -a mod to allow for the game to divert its graphical requirements across multiple cores of a cpu (i don't know if that would give much of a preformance boost, if its even possible or if its already a feature in the game already) I don't know if any of these tweaks would be possible and i highly doubt i could get the game to run on a intel atom/ 4gb ramPc however i am determined to try as even if i can't get it to run on that but the tweaks work, it would still help lower end pc's. If anyone could point me in the right direction for creating these tweaks or even help out directly, your help would be very much appreciated :) (P.s. if there are any spelling or grammatical errors i sent this on my phone so i apologise in advance!) dazzerfong
1. Relatively simple to do: you can even make a batch file to do it too.2. Much harder, but possible: run retopo tools through as many meshes that it could work on.3. It's already doing that: uGridsToLoad governs exactly what you're describing (except for the directional thing, which still gets culled but is technically in-memory)4. Nope. It's placed on the GPU for a reason: because GPU's are really good at doing many dumb things. A CPU is good at doing not too many smart things at once. I can tell you fairly safely it's not going to work well, even if you can accomplish all of the above.
HandofBobb
just out of curiosity, what constitues an "extreme low end PC" these days? I ask because I'm playing on a Gateway FX 6840 - Core i7 870 2.93GHz that's 7 years old and having minimal issues, I can remember the days when you wouldnt dare try to run a brand new AAA title on a 2-year old PC, let alone 7... The only thing different from stock specs is I have a 5770 instead of the 5750 most versions list.
Maelstrom100
i'd say anything below or far below the minimum requirements for AAA title games constitutes as a low end pc these days and anything far below the minimum requirements would be a extremely low end pc (such as a cherry trail device ( 1.4ghz to 1.84ghz turbo'ed )Yes i am wishing to run fallout 4 on as "crappy a pc" as that and i am just wondering if its actually possible, with people actually giving way's how i could make it run or how it wouldn't workiv'e seen mods like the 512 resolution texture packs ( or the even lower ULRT texture mod) and mods to remove or downscale shadows and the ultra low graphics mod which also edits things like the ugrids to load iv'e heard.adding onto my methods from all the way above ^ if someone had the npc/item draw distance turned low to something such as 1 or 2 in the options, what would be the corresponding draw distance value for the Ugridstoload? aka while i know it would downscale textures far away from the player, but how far away would the same distance for actors/items be? (and would it even function without crashing?) Edited September 15, 2016 by Oileme
EmissaryOfWind
There are also quite a few mods that clean out "useless" objects such as trash piles, dirt and grime decals, some bushes and the like. I don't use them, so I don't know how much of an impact it would have on performance, but you could give it a try. That's assuming the game will even want to launch, I've had instances (on another computer) of games that won't launch if the hardware requirement aren't met. Maelstrom100
iv'e seen a few of them, apparently the idea came originally from skyrim as such removeing useless and unnoticable clutter, any more ideas?
