New Monsters

Ok, I purchased a textured model of a "Blood Wasp" from Turbosquid. As I read the license it gave me the permission to distribute the model so here it is: [link deleted].

It is available in Blender format, so you can work on it. I think it needs animations and of course game data to make it a creature in Fallout NV, but it would make a cool addition to the monster list, give it a lethal nerve toxin poison sting that kills quickly if theres no antidote and you´d have a real killer on the loose. Now if some talented modeler could make a Queen Blood Wasp by editing the model and we´d have a super version of this monster. And of course this monster needs some sounds too, maybe you could use the Bloatfly buzz.

You are free to use the model in any way as far as I am concerned, I paid for the license (5 dollars), so he who made this cool model got his money.

It would be cool to have some other beasts too, maybe tigers, lions, hyenas etc. Maybe the rationale would be that they have escaped from zoos in the fallout universe and now roam around the US seeking unfortunate travelers to eat as they would have had to acquire a taste for human flesh to survive in the wasteland.

And of course we don´t need to stop in the wimpy mammalian beasts of today, but we could invent a scientific project called Extinct Animal Revival Project or E.A.R.P. and bring back the dinosaurs like the T-Rex and Velociraptor a la Jurassic Park and of course the Sabretooth tiger from the last ice age and maybe mammoths to roam around in the wastes waiting to be hunted for food.

You could also have other animal species like Gazelles and other grazers roaming around in the Great Plains of US, maybe escaped from zoos during the nuclear war and now roaming freely.

I will keep a look out for promising models and if they are free or very cheap I will buy them and post them here, so others can put the finishing touches on them.

Cheers!

PS. Everyone visit Turbosquid and look around their collections for promising 3d models. Some are free and some cost money. If you have some loose cash, then you can contribute to the modding by purchasing some cheap models for use in these games. The license gives you wide ranging freedoms to distribute and use the models in games, so legal issues should not be a problem. You can use PayPal there or a credit card.

If we all pool our loose cash together, then we may have some real cool mods available in the future. And of course if you are a talented model maker, then you can sell your models on Turbosquid to earn money or donate them free for all.

Here is a download link for a Sabretooth tiger; [link deleted]

It was free from Turbosquid, so give a big applause to the generous maker of this cool model. All it needs is some textures, animations and all the other stuff to make it a game monster.

Please note that what you are doing violates the Turbosquid terms of service:

Our goal is to allow you the most possible flexibility in using purchased models while protecting the interests of the model's creator and the model's future sales. Accordingly, when you are publishing, selling, or otherwise distributing your final product you cannot distribute the purchased model in a file format that is usable by any 3D application. The purchased model has to be incorporated into your final product in a way that the end user of it cannot access the purchased model itself.
