DanaB
I have seen references to this bug in XBOX360 forums. I am using SKYRIM PC Deep in the Folgunthur quest, one comes to a "Throne Room" which has a metal grate on the floor, covering a staircase. There are stone pedestals to turn in an adjacent room. There is a hint to what the combination is in the other room. I have set the stones to bird-fish-snake, and the opposite snake-fish-bird. Then I go out into the Throne Room and pull the chain on the wall. It shoots poison darts. I have tried this over and over and over again, but the grate never opens. I have tried it with the levers to the adjacent room doors at different settings. I have stood on what looks to be a raised stone on the floor by the chain and pulled it. I have quit the game and restarted. I have gone all the way out of the cave and come back in. I have tried it with Ivory Dragon Claw in my inventory and without it. Nothing works. I'm assuming that many, many people have successfully opened that grate. How did you do it?
Draco856
The combination should be above the pillars, if you look at those and match them to the pillars beneath them you should be able to open the gate. The guide says the code for the pillars is: Hawk, Hawk, Dragon. Try that code, it says there's a group of pillars in another room that you have to turn. Exact words from guide: You must solve a Nordic Pillar Puzzle here in order to advance to the lower crypts. 'Ignore the rooms two levers and enter the northeast chamber. Note the order of the glyphs, then exit and pull either lever to access the northwest chamber. Rotate three glyph pillars here, mirroring the glyph sequence in the previous chamber (Hawk, Hawk, Dragon). Then exit and pull the chain on the far wall to open the central stairwell. I think this is the area you are in, if not, then I don't have a clue.
DanaB
The description sounds like the room, but there are no dragons on these pillars. Just hawks, fishes, and snakes. According to one of the Skyrim XBOX360 forums, there is a bug in the game. Many of them had to save, exit, and restart the game, then the grate would open. They say the combination is hawk, fish, snake. Which is exactly what is on the wall of the room next to it. And seems logical. But it doesn't work, at least for me. I tried hawk, hawk, snake, just in case the snake was a "dragon" but that didn't work either. I am stuck, stuck, stuck.
Draco856
I don't know then, maybe you are just using the wrong pillars for the combo? I know I've thought I've used the pillars in the right order, only to find out I should have started with a different one.
DanaB
I will keep looking, but I have not found any pillars with dragons on them. And the problem I'm having is exactly the same one as described on the XBOX forum. With the same pillars they described there. I was hoping someone with the PC version could help out. GeneralIwolgin
Its the same in my game.Perhaps the reason for this bug is that I found a piece of the amulet inSaarthal BEFORE receiving the quest.Did you too?
PR4Y
I LITERALLY just got stuck on this, but I realized I had the first and last pillars backwards... try reversing the first and last (leaving the one in middle same) and see if that works. i was pulling my hair out for like 30 minutes on that one... but in the end I realized I had the order backwards (because the rooms are adjacant, not parallel)
