radaphyte
Okay folks, I have an itch I was hoping someone would be able to scratch. Skyrim runs fine with every setting maxed out, bar Shadows (which are set to High). Now, when I switch them to ultra, the game slows so much it's utterly unplayable. My question is, is this simply an issue of my PC not being up to the task, or is it a bug? I ask because Crysis/BF3/etc can all run maxed out on my PC, in Crysis's case, I've even run it with graphics mods installed. It just seems odd to me that I can manage all of that, and every other setting in Skyrim, bar Ultra Shadows. Is the resource usage jump really that high? I'm using a Radeon 5800 Series card (not sure on the specific card, since dxdiag just lists the series, but it's got enough welly to run the other stuff I'm running with no problems.) rhophius
its all down to the optimizations that are used by Bes when they made the game engine, put simple, the shadows system in this game is rubbish, it has no tweaks on the engine end, so best bet is to wait for someone to make a mod that replaces the shadow all together. i have the same issue i run all my games maxed out with 16AF and 16AA at insane settings on some games but Skyrim brings my pc to its knees when i use ultra shadows.
