Mods and Steam

Just picked this up and started to wonder. How do I put mods into the steam version of this?

I've already made FOMM go down the line to where New vegas is, but when I looked at the files for New Vegas, there wasn't any meshes or textures folders. Is this going to bite me down the line? If so, how do I fix it? Read somewhere that I have to uncompile them or something but how do I do that? And please don't just say, use FOMM, cause the only thing I know how to do with FOMM is plug the mod and run it.

Someone help me out please.

You're not supposed to have meshes and textures folders right after you install the game. Anything you put in the Data folder overrides data already present in the BSA archives where all the base game data is stored. This is the same for all of Bethesda's Gamebryo-engine games (Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim, FO3, FNV). Unless you're creating a mesh or texture replacer and want to modify one of the vanilla ones, pretend that the BSA files are not even there. Don't ever mess with them.

Oh thanks. And no I wasn't going to make a mod myself. Just wanted to know if the missing folders would mess me up. Thanks again.
