All these topics about extending are well and good...

If you poke around this forum you'll more then likely find topics that deal with extending many of the faction quest-lines, I'll use the civil war as a example.

DB (Dragon-Born) gets picked as prisoner.

DB either skips off merrily with Hadvar or Ralof.

DB can choose to join up with Imperials, or stormcloaks.

DB then does retrieval quest with either side.

DB then convenes a peace council (only happens if you haven't finished main quest yet.)

DB then happily slashes and burns his way through enemy fortresses.

DB then assists chosen faction in taking other's city.

DB celebrates with a fine cup of mead.

Now this happens too quickly and ends too soon.

-Only enemy fortresses, not farms, ruins or villages are captured. So chivalry isn't dead I see.

-The only places that Stormcloaks and Imperials clash tend to be in the Reach or the Rift.

-Only one city siege (Windhelm or Solitude)

Now for my ideas to remedy this.

- Regional takeovers are extended by having to capture the main fort, the main village and the main ruin.

- As the war progresses, large scale battles are more common.

- Most empty ruins are now occupied by enemy soldiers.

But I have a question about actually getting this to work, can questlines already in the vanilla game really be extended like that? Like just slotting a new questline in the middle of the current one?
