You may or may not need older versions as well (even though they aren't stated as a requirement for NMM) so be sure to install them first (and in sequential order) as Windows won't allow you to install older versions of .NET and the newer versions are horrible regarding backwards compatibility. I personally suggest starting with 2.0 and continuing with 2.5, 3.0, 3.5, then 4.0 as you never know when you'll come across some program that needs an older version.
