Yamcakes
Thank you ahead of time before you tackle this issue, I am storing 2 days of complete frustration up from the crash issues and hope you can help me fix it quick. :) So I have a fairly decent PC i just got out of the box and cant play skyrim. I have gone through the following steps to troubleshoot any problems, so please dont suggest what I have been reading for the past 2 days straight x_x; (I own the retail PC version btw)-Validated the steam cache files-Updated Drivers(yes all of them)-Updated my mobo-Downloaded the new 4gb.exe for skyrim-Tried the "sound" fix by setting to 44100-Tested settings on default High, then to low-Took off Shadows-No AA settings are applied-Tried Windowed Mode, no dice there (When i do, the key thing to note is I lag as well as I am stuck in the wagon inside the driver; happens all the time if that helps)-Ran a DxDiagnostic and everything checks out great. -Nvidia graphics card IS the video card my game is reading from I cant get through a single moment of gameplay without an errorless desktop crash. On the rare occasion I get 3 seconds of gameplay THEN a crash, always at the first loading screen. PC specs: Hopefully someone can make sense of this massive wall of text. :c ------------------System Information------------------Time of this report: 11/26/2011, 10:45:07 Machine name: MUSHROOMBREW-PC Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601) Service Pack 1 (7601.win7sp1_gdr.110622-1506) Language: English (Regional Setting: English)System Manufacturer: System manufacturer System Model: System Product Name BIOS: BIOS Date: 10/13/11 10:40:46 Ver: 04.06.04 Processor: AMD A8-3850 APU with Radeon HD Graphics (4 CPUs), ~2.9GHz Memory: 16384MB RAMAvailable OS Memory: 16380MB RAM Page File: 2686MB used, 30071MB available Windows Dir: C:\Windows DirectX Version: DirectX 11DX Setup Parameters: Not found User DPI Setting: Using System DPI System DPI Setting: 96 DPI (100 percent) DWM DPI Scaling: Disabled DxDiag Version: 6.01.7601.17514 64bit Unicode ------------DxDiag Notes------------ Display Tab 1: No problems found. Yamcakes
I also want to point out that I cannot locate the Crash/Bug Log that the newest 4GB.exe file is supposed to create after random crashes. I want to provide you all with that info as well, but I simply cant locate that either. Help with that would be appreciated too. :)
mcbarker
They must have updated something. I'm having exactly the same problem. Just suddenly started happening early today. It doesn't matter which save game I load... it crashes to the desktop within a few seconds. No error messages... nothing. Before this, it was relatively stable. Thanks for the betaware Bethesda! Especially when I have the specs to run the game on High by default. :bI toned it down and yeah still nothing, obviously. I just cant fathom how my brother's M11x Alienware was able to load it up, no tweaks or special .exe mods, and suffers almost no crashes the night we got the game. Still runs great for him, so jelly. utherix
I hate to be "that guy" but you may have a physical defect in your Video RAM or RAM. If Skyrim isn't the only recently-released game which causes unexplained crashes to occur than you may consider replacing your RAM followed by your Video Card. And try RAM consistency checks/RAM swapping, etc.
