* Allow mages to instantly swap between magical (blue aura) Wards and physical (red aura) Wards by double-clicking.

 

* Give Wards a low threshold for damage but as the Ward is struck it becomes stronger and blocks more damage.

 

Lesser Ward (60% to 80%)

Greater Ward (70% to 90%)

 

The stronger the (blue) Ward the more magicka is drained when struck, the stronger the (red) Ward the more stamina is drained when struck. Wards shatter and cause stagger when either runs out.

 

Pros:

* Allows players to instantly swap between spell guarding and slash-and-hacking.

* Requires less investment than shields (no more building up arrow deflect).

* Can surpass shields in physical/magical defense.

 

Cons:

* All the benefits of shields (no power bash or elemental resistance).

* When Ward shatters the defense bonuses are reset.

* Demands more magicka/stamina than shields.
