Lever Action Rifles

I've started to create the Receiver's, well I created a test bed Receiver, but I cannot get it to show up in game as a part of the crafted modifications list. Further research is needed on my part to figure out that aspect of the CreationKit.

I would totally love another Lever-Action Rifle in the game. I truly miss the Cowboy Repeater from New Vegas and the Lincoln's Repeater from FO3. I used them for my entire playthrough of each game.

As did I. The Lever Action rifle is one of my all time favorites.

Lincoln's Repeater was my go-to in 3, I'd love to see a return of something int hat style... maybe with a totally long old fashioned looking long range scope for sniper usage.

My original thoughts were to simply add Receivers for different calibers adjusting stats for capacity and ammo type. Therefore, the scope design found with the in-game .45-70 would not change.

I'm looking for a mod to add Henry Lever Action rifles. They would use the pre-existing pistol rounds, .38, 10mm, and .45. Adding the individual rifles is easy; however, modding the bullet capacity and different receivers for crafting is beyond my capabilities. Eventually, I'd like to see the Golden Boy added, which would require a new model, with slightly better stats.

As for altering the capacity of each rifle / caliber combination my thoughts was to base it loosely on a size comparison to the .45-70. For instance, the .45-70 is roughly 2.5 times as large as .38, whereas it may only be 2 times as large as the .45 and 10mm. Therefore the capacity of the rifle with the .38 would be 12 rounds, and for the .45 and 10mm roughly 10 rounds. Damage output would be kept reasonable due to the extended reload times inherent in the current Lever Action.

Thanks for your consideration.

Do you already have a model made?

Not as yet, I am not a modeler.

I've got a model of a Henry Lever Action lying around.

That's awesome, but I am unsure how to proceed from here. Sure I can easily create a copy of the Lever Action currently in game, as well as copy the Receivers. I'm slowly figuring out how to adjust the ammo type and capacity. Where should we go with this? Do you guys have any thoughts as to statistics such as damage, reload speed, crit etc?

I guess lower damage but a faster reload speed. Just from a quick google search I seen that the Henry rifle uses .22 so it would make sense for it to have lower damage, higher ammo capacity and a faster reload in-game.

Seeing as how the original Henry used a .44 Henry Rimfire, I would use the in-game 44. Pistol. Additional calibers would be .38 and .45 for the Henry Big Boy in production today. The currently in-game .45-70 already replaces the .44-40. So in the end, 3 Receivers need to be added to the game, .44, .38, and .45. Due to the minimal size difference between the .44 and .45, the capacity wouldn't change but we can adjust damage and crit. I would lean toward the .44 having more crit whereas the .45 higher base damage. As for the reload speed, the smaller rounds (.38, .44, .45) have a higher capacity so in the end, the reload speed may actually be longer. After all, you can insert a round into the sleeve only so fast.

What lever action rifles are wanted? Because I'm looking for a side project to do since I have time on my hands.

Beyond the aforementioned calibers, I would really love to see a one-off special variant. One that has a fully engraved action, looking at (https://www.henryrifles.com/henry-rifles/), the one that jumps out is the Lincoln Repeater 2nd Edition.

I think the Lincoln Repeater 2nd Edition would make a fine addition as well as being a bit of a memory piece for those who played FO3.

One additional thought, should this mod be made available to players without Far Harbor? If so, that is far more detailed work than I am capable of handling. I highly doubt Bethesda would appreciate us pull DLC materials down to the base game. Which means completely rebuilding the Lever Action rifle with our own models.

@HaeKaula So the lincoln repeater is based off the henry repeater? Sorry I didn't play much FO3 or FO:NV that much. I can definitely make that with the designs.

I do believe that both the Cowboy Repeater and Lincoln's Repeater are based off of the Henry Repeater.

Nope. Cowboy Repeater is a Winchester 1892 - the unique variant, however, -is- based off of a Henry rifle, specifically the original 1860 model (now called the "Original Iron-Frame" according to their website), though converted from the original .44-40 to .357 Magnum, as is Lincoln's Repeater (the real thing is serial # 6 out of 400, gold-plated receiver and beautiful engraving, chambered for the .44 Henry cartridge, essentially a black-powder, rimfire .44 Special - if you ever get the chance to tour the Smithsonian Museum of American History, be sure to check it out :3).

@Iambluuee Yes, the Lincoln Repeater is based upon the Henry Rifle. In FO3 I believe it used the .357. The .38 Special, while oft times interchangeable with the .357 would be too weak within the context of FO4. If a Lincoln Repeater was added via a mod, I would like to see it chambered in .44. The .44 Henry Rimfire was the original round of Henry Rifles, and while the .44 found in-game is not a rimfire cartridge it still bears the size. Just my thoughts anyway.
