Broken Dark Brotherhood Quest-line

Minor accident; I needed a quick way to get grand soul gems

so thought I could get some from soul trapping Sithis a couple of times... (BIG mistake)

after the third time i killed sithis I only just found out that I was kicked out for good, (but it was to late 4 I'd already saved my game)

Note: I couldn't get rid of it using setstage since it was already complete.

Does anyone have a solution to this?

ANY solution would do as long as it doesn't involve starting a new game

:thanks:

It can not be a "minor accident" if you did it three times. I looked in the guide and I do not see anything about getting kicked out of or getting back into the Dark Brotherhood. I am curious though, where in the game does Sithis actually appear, much less give you the opportunity to attack him? Are you confusing the name with some other faction member?

O.K so it wasn't a minor accident, in fact I stuffed up BIG time.

Sithis appears after you break one of the tenents (for example, I tried to steal from another dark brotherhood member)

After this happens a quest appears saying the next time you sleep you have to defeat Sithis in order to return back to the dark brotherhood.

Feel free to try it (But I highly recommend doing it just once for fear of ending in my situation)

It seemed like a good way to get easy grand soul gems at the time, but then again I should have read the quest pop-ups which had warned me i would be 'exiled' from the faction If i was on a hat-trick.

For future reference, the best way to get soul gems is to just raid a necromancers den, there are too many to count scattered around the continent. Being kicked out of a faction three times puts you out permanently, and rightly so. The only case I disagree with is being kicked out of the thieves guild for killing even if it is not related to the thieves guild quest.

True, but think of it this way, The thieves guild allows you to sell stolen goods so in a way kind of evens out

(But then again you can sell stolen goods with the Thieves Den expansion without being a member of the thieves guild)

As for Soul Gems I would have taken you're advice, but that takes time and being the impatient individual that I am I needed a quicker alternative.

As a result I suffered the consequences, but then again I never really liked the dark brotherhood anywayz.

completing the Dark brotherhood quest line does not reward an awful lot (I won't bother to mention any examples here, this is 'General Oblivion' not spoilers.)

@ Woogie: I looked in the CS, and the 'Wrath of Sithis', as the apparition is called, is just a wraith (well, the model and such). It's not actually 'Sithis', since nobody really knows what he/she/it is. ***SPOILER ALERT!*** As described by Lucien Lachance, Sithis is like a "perfect, cloudless midnight, cold as winter ice and shrouded in shadow". And the statue included in the Vile Lair official plug looks nothing like how I imagine 'Sithis' to be.

In fact, 'Sithis' is the sinister intent and malicious will of those who do evil deeds in the name of the Dark Brotherhood. Not like Mephala or Boethia(h) who each desire offerings of flesh, but the purest of wickedness in one's heart. When you look at 'Sithis' in these respects, you will understand that 'Sithis' is neither a physical nor supernatural entity, but a mental and emotional manifestation one would only assume to be the will of 'Sithis'.
