What to use for modeling

So I have a great idea for a mod to Skyrim, but the "creation kit" has not been released yet. I want to at least get some of the things out of the way. Can I use Maya for modelling and import it into Skyrim? I'm new to modding altogether soo I don't know if Skyrim or Oblivion would have their own modelling program included with the "creation kit".

Basicall you can use any 3d app. The Maya translator hasn't been updated in a long time, but we have a new developer working on it.

 

Also, neither of those links have anything maya-specific, fyi.

 

I use Maya, and I do most of my work in it, and then port over to Blender to export the models into a nif. So all you really need to learn in Blender is how to do the preparation, since most of the work is done.

Sounds nice, im looking forward to that :D

 

Will it be possible to import rigs into Maya or Max for reskinning purposes? (My prefered 3D application is Maya, but I wouldnt bother to use Max)

I found some errors within the game that could have been made better with proper skin weight painting...
