Spam getting through on the advert sectipns

You may of not noticed the increased Spam adverts getting through like "Win a free Ipad 2" or "Your the 100,000th Member" and "Your IP has been selected to win such and such bullcrap"

 

I have posted a thread before with a such spam details with link but saw no reply. Just curious if the staff got my report?

Yes, the staff actually does see every report. We have a special forum just for reports where we can communicate between ourselves on them. We do look at the spam reports, and when we can, block them. Usually that spam post will just vanish from the forums, no sense letting the spammers know they are getting through our filters is there?

 

Blocking spam is an ongoing process, the spammers find ways around filters, and we make new filters to stop whichever exploit thy have compromised. Their current favorite is sleeper accounts. They pay some third world kid to make as many legitimate looking accounts on various sites as they can, then after a couple of days or weeks, they use those accounts to spam the sites. This gets around things like captcha ( the crazy words or letters you need to enter when signing up) and other anti spam tricks.
