My main quest is broken

good call. i'll try the re-install. i've only got 4 mods running, all texture replacers, so i don't think it's them. something to try though.

not sure if this is the right place or not but here goes...i've completed alduin's wall quest, but my journal doesn't update to throat of the world quest. i initially thought i was missing some requirements. so i started finding words of power and killing dragons and i even did a few blades' side quests. nothing happened. no updates. nothing. so i continued doing what i was doing, then got an update in the miscellaneous quest section where it says "return to esbern". so i did and the only topic i've got with him is "what does it mean to be dragonborn?" i'm really stumped here. any help would be appreciated. and if it matters or not, delphine has returned to the sleeping giant inn in riverwood, after she said she wouldn't be back, and esbern has returned to his hideaway in the rataway in riften. all the blades i've recruited are in skyborn temple as well.

 

 

 

I have the EXACT same problem. I'm level 60 something, 170+ hours in, and now stuck halfway through the main quest. Very frustrating. Console commands to advance the quest don't work either. Only 'solution' I've been able to find is to skip the Throat of the World quest via console, and add in the Clear Skies shout via console as well. Though I haven't done it yet. Waiting to hear back from Bethesda before I skip an important part of the game. They actually responded the very next day, but the response was lol worthy :

To make sure you issue is handle as quickly as possible there is some info we need

 

1. Have you tried reverting to a previous save to see if you can restart the mission

 

Once we receive this information we will be able to handle your issue thoroughly"

 

The only save I have before Alduin's wall is some 80 hours ago....not really an option.

You are only using the 3 auto updates? There's an old saying.. "save now, save often".

If you are not making regular manual saves, you are asking to get messed up by anything, including things out of everyones control, like power failures and other natural disasters (like your cat tromping across your keyboard while you are in the restroom, or your sibling/bf/gf/mom/dad deciding to do something nasty to your character while you are afk for a couple minutes).

I'm not sure if your current playthrough can be fixed or not, but you can help make things easier on yourself in the future by making regular manual saves, often.
