Kreyd
Someone else think the totaly irrelevant settlement system from Fallout 4 should have been like Rimworld ? Both are pretty close but the settlement system totaly lack of purpose and feature required to make it entertaining and relevant, we could have a real suriviving settlement system, but instead of that we have a lego/houssing simulator.I wish a group of modder really revamp the settlement system in something similar to Rimworld and his fonctionality. Greenslade
Rimworld is built from the ground up to be a much more complex framework for dealing with multiple colonists, their personalities, needs and interactions. I'm not saying it's entirely impossible for something like that to be retrofitted over the top, but it strikes me as being an awful lot of work and would always be kludgy as all hell. rusgesig
I think a good first step would be figuring out a way to apply survival mode effects to NPC's. If they have to eat, drink and sleep to not die, they will naturally have to set up a work/eat/sleep schedule- make them want to eat when hungry, drink when thirsty, sleep when tired. Being able to set timeframes for these three activities through a terminal would emulate Rimworld at it's core. After that you can add personalities- weighting likelihood of actions and responses, even dialogue (one liners). Set up booze/entertainment needs and make entertainment more interactive (there is already an abundance of stock furniture with animation cycles), make tamed animals (already there) useful, by allowing settlers to "harvest" ingredients, adding breeding would be a huge plus. Love the idea, would definitely play.
