Oblivion TV Series

So, what if gamers could write episodes based on their adventures during quests ?

Maybe start with a competition for the best script then put forward a proposal to Bethesda.

We've had series like Zena and Hercules and lots of movies based on games, so I imagine Oblivion could work. What do you think ?

maybe... would be kinda hard/expensive with all the fantasy races though - Xena and Hercules only have humans in them (i think). Oblivion would need a lot of computer graphics or latex.

Oblivion 3D Beowulf (spelling?) style - now that I'd like to see.

Let's see...

Imperial: Roman human

Nord: Norse human

Redguard: African human

Breton: Breton human

Altmer: tall, yellow human with pointed ears

Dunmer: dark human with red eyes and pointed ears

Bosmer: short human with pointed ears

Argonian: scaly human with weird head

Khajiit: furry human with cat ears

Yeah, really difficult, nothing a little costume design couldn't fix. You also seem to forget that TV shows have several hundred thousand, if not million, dollar budgets.

As for the actual logistics of it, it's not feasible in the least. First, Bethesda would need a network station to air the show, meaning they'd need to prove people will watch it, and second, they'd need to get people to actually watch it. Aside from the geeks, not very many people will do that, ad most of said geeks are doing far geekier things than watching TV. Take me for example, last night was the first night I watched TV in over two months. If everyone is like that, They won't get very high ratings. There's also the fact that by turning it into a TV show, Bethesda will slash away their intellectual rights to Oblivion. The network station will own almost all of them. in fact, if the network has a really good lawyer, the network could even lay claim to the Oblivion game, or even the entire TES series. See the problem with this?

You mean Oblivion IMAX? First off, they don't make TV shows for the IMAX. Second, They don't make video games for the IMAX (no matter how sweet that'd be). So, unless they make an Oblivion movie, you'll never see Oblivion in the IMAX, and I doubt Bethesda is stupid enough to slaughter their game by turning it into a movie.

I think what he meant by 3D Beowulf was the fact that it's done in CGI. It uses a technique called PC (Performance Capture) CGI, which was also used for The Polar Express. While I haven't read the epic itself, I did actually find Beowulf to have some fairly good underlying morality stories that I think are still relevant today (more so perhaps). Anyway, I think from a technological standpoint a TV show might be feasible, but it really wouldn't be a good idea. An online show perhaps might be a better idea, but still it's better to let bygones be bygones, and leave the game well enough alone.

Reality TV is what works these days, not contrived scripts which are written by capable and reasonably intelligent people. People want to see other people sent off to some location where they eat wierd things, have pointless arguments, and walk around barely clothed, drunk.

Ok, in all seriousness, for anything like this to work, you would actually need skilled writers who can do more than present a few garbled instances about their characters. There needs to be a central plot (that isn't just ripping off of what Bethsoft has given us) and a story that actually speaks to someone who isn't a computer geek and is familiar with the series. Oblivion, as is, would not satisfy this. You may be able to do something with the world as it is after Oblivion, but you'd likely need Bethsoft's involvement to steer the plot toward where they want it to go.

Honestly, you'd have more luck just writing down a story set in your own world than you'd have with making one centered around something minor like TES. Even if a show were made based on a successful series, fans of the series would be your toughest critics.

...who are currently striking, and your whole reason to have this show is to have something to air while the strike is happening.

Well, the strike isn't going to resolve itself by people trying to do their job. They deserve acceptable payment for their work. Even if that means holding people responsible for uploading episodes to YouTube.
