I haven't played yet, but I was curious...does the game touch at all on the wars with the Dunmer? In Morrowind, the Dunmer often say that the Nords are their ancient enemies. I just wondered if they acknowledge that in any way.

In Windhelm, about half the population are dark elves, and they all live in this slum called the Grey quarter.

After red mountain blew it's top and destroyed Vivec and most of Vvardenfell the surviving Dunnmer moved to Skyrim, there is plenty of tension between the Nords and Dunnmer but they tend to get along just fine from what Ive seen.

Well, it's more like "are tolerated" rather than "just fine".

Depends on which part of Skyrim are you in. But Nords tend to be rather xenophobic, no matter if it's Dunmer or Khajiit and Argonians (who seem to get it worse than Dunmer, actually).

There is also the indication that the Dunmer, or at least some of them, are dedicated to making Skyrim their 'New Home'. Read -The Dunmer of Skyrim-. Theres a lot of tension between the Nords and the Dunmer, particularly in the eastren part of the province.

Considering the Dunmer have been largely obliterated, to the point that a mere decimation would have been a hugely preferable improvement on what actually happened to them, and Morrowind is now an ash covered, worthless dump filled with useless lizards, the Nords probably dropped the whole 'ancient enemies' thing.

There's just nothing left to fight over. This isn't two empires/cultures battling across their mutual borders anymore, the Nords have, in pretty much every measure, 'won'. The Dunmer have nothing. The Dunmer in fact have so pitifully little that Skyrim and the Nords had no problem letting their old enemies have the snowy craphole they used as a staging point for invading Morrowind. From the Nord perspective, you might as well let the laughable remains of the Dunmer have Solstheim in the hope they might actually build themselves up to the point of being profitable to subjugate again.
