Human Child Companion Being A Brat

So I have been working on a human child follower, after the first is created I will be making a second one and both shall be used in a roleplay youtube series with voice actors.

Almost everything works just great and am happy but one huge problem is that it will not fight.

It will draw a weapon when I do but thats it, if I tell it to attack nothing happens and it wont even defend itself.

Set aggressive - foolhardy - defend allies and friends.

Relationship set to ally.

Has mostly Caits AI package.

 

Are child NPC just universally unable to do anything in a fight other than run away or can I do something to enable combat?

 

I have googled the crud out of this and tried searching this site for answers before asking.

Bethesda disallows violence towards children.

 

Create a copy of the Human race, edit it to use the child bodies, and assign your 'children' to the new race. That should avoid built in child mechanics.

 

They won't like you uploading it to Beth if you do that though (you probably already knew that).

Attempted as you described but had no joy, clearly I still have alot to learn as when I tried this only a head would appear.

All I needed was a kid capable of combat.

Also tried duplicating & renaming the child race and unticking "child" then just copied the normal human stuff but get the same floating head.

Yeh I thought it may be hardcoded, figured if they where set invulnrable they could still use weaponry.

Will follow your suggestion and avoid any uploading to beth!

That's easy to fix. All you need to do is copy the Race, untick 'child' and then in 'General Data' tab find 'Armor Race' settings. Select HumanChildRace as Armor Race. It will fix the floting head. Not sure that fighting children is something really interesting, but it's possible to make. Have seen it in other mods.
