TitanAC
Hi all, my first post here. Firstly i want to say that i'm loving all the talent that is being shown in just a few weeks of the games release. Now on to my problem, i have searched the forums and google but can't seem to find exactly what i'm looking for.I can extract the files to mod i.e. the textures but i can't seem to place them in the texture.bsa folder. Ive followed the tutorials and the youtube video, and it appears that after you extract the complete folder it automatically becomes accessable to import into. But when i try to, it's still packed in the specail file type that comes with the game. Can anyone help, as i have created a few mods and want to test them. Thanks for any help and replies i get, and hopefully this is the start of my professional modding life.
MShoap13
You don't want to import the modified texture back into the archive. You want to place it into a folder at \Skyrim\Data\textures\(specific file path)\. The game should automatically use any replacer textures found in the file system instead of using the original resource in the .bsa archive. The "specific file path" is the exact location the game is told to look for that specific texture, if you aren't sure what it should be, browsing the .bsa will tell you where it goes. Thanks for the reply, but i can't place it in the \Skyrim\Data\textures\(specific file path) as i can't open it unless i use on of the extracters, but that only opens it in that program to extract. Am i being stupid and blind, have i missed something? Wait do you mean i should create a older called textures and any sub file folder and place it in that so that there is the original textures.bsa and my unarchived folder there aswell? MShoap13
You have to create a \textures\ folder inside of your \Data\ directory. I repeat, you don't want to place the replacer back into the .bsa archive. In order to edit a texture you have to have already extracted it from the .bsa to an alternate location. In order to make the game use your altered texture you just put in in the correct folder under the root of \Data\textures\.
TitanAC
Thanks for all your help, i'm gonna try that. Seems so simple now, don't know why it just dawned on me. Hope it works. The tutorial on youtube didn't say that in my defense lol
