RosyGrogEnigma
My wit's end, that is where I'm at. I have a problem with low-res textures appearing away from structures, and I can't for the life of me figure out how to fix it (except restarting the game, which works for five minutes). Since a picture says more than a thousand words, I'll cut down the length of this post considerably by posting a screenshot. http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c3/AyleeshaSilversong/Skyrim/OMFGHorror.jpg So far the problem is mostly restricted to Solstheim exteriors, although I've seem some instances of textures hovering above the ground in interiors as well. I've had a similar problem in the Fallout games, but there a quicksave/load has fixed it. Here, I have to quit the game and restart, but the problem returns when I enter a new area. When I first arrived in Solstheim everything was dandy, but after a couple of hours this problem started, and I've been unable to find a fix, probably mostly because I can't think of a way to frame my Google search properly. :S My mod list *deep breath* : Achieve That!Acquisitive Soul GemsaMidianBorn Book of Silence – ArmorsaMidianBorn Book of Silence – Content AddonaMidianBorn Book of Silence – Unique ItemsaMidianBorn Book of Silence – WeaponsaMidianBorn Caves and MinesaMidianBorn Wolf Armor and Skyforge WeaponsAOF Detailed MountainsApocalypse – Magic of SkyrimAuto Unequip AmmoBandolierBethesda Hi-Res DLC OptimizedBetter Dialogue ControlsBetter MessageBox ControlsBetter Stealth for AI FollowersBook Covers SkyrimBreezehome FullyUpgradableCampfireCategorized Favorites ManuCinematic Fire EffectsClear Skies FixClimates of TamrielCloaks of SkyrimClothing and Clutter FixesComplete Alchemy and Crafting OverhaulComplete Crafting Overhaul RemadeConvenient HorsesD13 Faster Get Up, Stand UpDaedric DawnbreakerDeadly DragonsDesigns of the NordsDouble Torch RadiusDovakhiin Relaxes TooDust EffectsDynavisionEnhanced Lights and FXEven Better Quest ObjectivesFalskaarFemale Face RetextureFences of SkyrimFix Lip SyncFollower Commentary OverhaulFootprintsFrostfallGuard Dialogue OverhaulHarvest OverhaulHD Enhanced TerrainHelgen RebornHigh Definition IvyHold Border BannersHunterbornHunters Cabin of RiverwoodiHUDImaginatorImmersive Amazing Follower TweaksImmersive ArmorsImmersive Fallen Trees ModImmersive RoadsImmersive WeaponsImproved Sneak DetectioniNeedLanterns of SkyrimLeanWolf’s Better-Shaped WeaponsLockpick GraduationLovely HairstylesMoonlight TalesmoreHUDMove it Damnit for NPC Companions and FollowersNatural Grass Texture FloorNo Sneak Attack SoundPaper World MapPerkus MaximusPerMa Defluffing PerksPerMa HeadlessPopulated Skyrim Hell EditionPredator VisionPretty FacePumping IronPure WatersRaceMenuRealistic Ragdolls and ForceRealistic Smoke and EmbersRealistic Water TwoRealVision ENBRecruit More BladesRen’s HD ShrinesRevenge of the Enemies 2016RugnarokRuins Clutter ImprovedRun for Your LivesSkyFalls + SkyMillsSkyrim –Community- UncapperSkyrim Flora OverhaulSkyrim HD – 2k TexturesSkyrim Project OptimizationSkyUISMIMSometimes Pick Up BooksSoultrap Sound EditSplash of RainStatusSustained SpellsThe Eyes of BeautyThundering ShoutsTransparent Wave SprayTreesHDTrue StormsUFOUnique UniquesUnlimited BookshelvesUnofficial Skyrim Legendary Edition PatchUpgrade and Fix for TreesHDVivid Clouds and FogVivid Landscapes – All in OneVivid Landscapes – All in One – Smim Farmhouse StuffWatercolor for ENB and Realistic Water TwoWeapons and Armor Fixes RemadeWet and ColdWhen Vampires AttackWinter is Coming – CloaksWiseman303’s Flora FixesXP32 Maximum SkeletonYour Own Thoughts Any help would be appreciated.
Project579
Are they actually texture can u walk through them?
RosyGrogEnigma
Can walk through them, yes. Annoyingly, on some ruined towers the low-res textures hide the openings, so I can't see where to enter, and even worse, I can't see archers behind them. Darkstyler35
Hello, It looks like a LOD issue. Does saving where it occurs and reloading the save resolves the problem ? And when coming back later by fast travel it happens again randomly ? I had a similar issue several months ago, seemed to have disappeared by itself. Suggest to googlesearch it : https://www.google.fr/#q=skyrim+LOD+issues. Good luck
RosyGrogEnigma
If I save where the problem is and reload immediately, the problem persists. If I save and quit the game, then the problem is gone when I reload. The problem is only gone where I saved, though. All other locations are corrupt when I reach them, whether I fast travel there or walk. After a while, the location where I loaded becomes corrupt as well. Fort Frostmoth and Tel Mithryn: http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c3/AyleeshaSilversong/Skyrim/Fort%20Frostmoth%20Corrupt.jpg http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c3/AyleeshaSilversong/Skyrim/Tel%20Mithryn%20Corrupt.jpg It seems I've started getting some grey ground textures as well. Could corrupt textures be causing this? Would the fix be to reinstall my mods?
Project579
It's a LOD issue i just had it using TES5LODgen on Enderal the LOD doesn't disappear when you load the location, using DynDOLOD fixed it for me; restoring vanilla LODs may work as well. Darkstyler35
<Could corrupt textures be causing this> I don't think this has anything to do with textures, but LOD not unloading or something. Problem is it's difficult to target an eventual culprit mod directly using a selective loading, as reloading the game corrects the issue. If you have a C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Skyrim\Data\lodsettings folder with something in it, you may try to rename it to invalidate it's content, then test enough time in game.Untick 50% of your mods, beginning by the end of your load order and test in game. Then depending on if the problem occurs again or not, increase /decrease the remaining loading mods to find the culprit.Backup your ini files and delete the files. Skyrim.ini / SkyrimCustom.ini / SkyrimPrefs.ini found in C:\Users\User\Documents\My Games\Skyrim then use your vanilla launcher to autodetect and use best settings for your computer and test in game. RosyGrogEnigma
I started the unticking routine, but with over 160 mods installed, I wanted to try every other solution first. :P You mentioning it was a LoD issue made me go through all my mods, and it appears I've found the culprit, so thanks. :) I am using RealVision ENB for Climates of Tamriel V; however, I had installed Particle Patch and Subsurface Scattering Patch for RealVision ENB. Once I removed those and installed the ones recommended for RealVision ENB for CoT V, the issue disappeared*. :) What made me think that it was a texture issues was what I mentioned as "grey ground textures". It seems as if the fallen ash everywhere is lighter and smoother now than it used to be, so that is what tricked me. *Of course, those are supposed to be installed before any of my other graphics mods, so we'll have to see what troubles I've made for myself this time.
