Proper export formats for textures

I've noticed that Skyrim doesn't like my environment maps. I took a look at some existing ones and copied them almost completely and yet the creation kit still throws "missing set texture: name_of_texture_e" error in my face. What's the difference between _e and_em, and why do Skyrim meshes put them in the same slot if they're different? From what I understand _e is like a cubmap and _em is just a simple reflection map.

Also, what compression should I use for textures?

_d =DXT3/5

_g =DXT1

_msn =?

_e =?

_em =DXT1

With the caveat that I'm still an amateur, and hoping that someone more experienced will come along with information, here are a few tutorials I used when I first started.

Hopefully they'll be of some help to you.
