... >.> Do not insult the mods. They banned self-admitted pirates. If self admitted pirates can help you by giving you links to illegally distributed data then you aren't welcome here. Nothing is wrong with keeping it under steam anyways. It would be illogical to move it unless you can give me a legit reason.

Well, I stumbled on this problem after I wanted to move my Steam-folder into another hard drive (SSD).

Solution was to put Skyrim back where it was and then start Nexus Mod Manager and point the new location from the Settings -> Skyrim tab.

PS. if you want to move Steam, don't delete your userdata-folder because it may contain screenshots etc. Despite this guide https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7418-YUBN-8129 tells to delete all except the SteamApps folder and Steam.exe.

This is kinda ridiculous... I uninstalled Nexus Mod Manager, and it said that it would remove all files, great! But after re-installing it still knows where my old steam directory is. How can I fix this??

EDIT: Also, why can't you just quit it when it errors, why is there a constant loop?

Paths seems to be stored in C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Local\Black_Tree_Gaming\NexusClient.exe...\0.16.4.0\user.config -file, but I haven't edited it myself because I already did the other workaround described in my previous post above.

hi, had the same problem.

i moved the steam-directory to a storage HDD (not on SSD) and NMM skipped loading, with the annoying loop. only task-manager helped.

editing the config-file helped ! Thank you Akimotori

but please let me tell you my opinion on that:

- i dont like the way the people handle this here - only on page 3 of this thread helped. the first 2 pages were piracy bulls***. sorry to say that, but this is a serious problem of the mod-manager. it was not very helpfull to read this stuff before.

and: i would appreciate if the nexus mod manager would not install itself configs and stuff all over my system. programm-folder, my documents, app-data, registry, where else ?

the loop should be fixed, too

thank you, especially for not banning me, though i had some critical words...

best regards from germany

If there's still anyone who's having this issue, here's my advice:

1) Open your manager

2) In the upper right corner there is a button called "Change game mode".

3) Click on the tiny arrow, choose "Rescan installed games".

4) Wait for the Skyrim tab find your new install.

5) Confirm.

I have no idea how it would work for somebody else, but it worked for me.

I've helped a few RL friends with this, and sometimes the simplest solution is just to make sure you check the green mark. A lot of people don't do that, and get confused when nothing works. A simple answer, and one that won't solve everyone's problems, but a reminder to double check never hurts.

NMM works well and it detects my game, my directory is C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\skyrim if that's not your directory then that means that you don't have Steam. Edited by rxmonste
