vram1974
I get the Oblivion Launcher and then pressing play results in "this program has stopped working" immediately. The game isn't modded at all. I'm not running OBSE. I'm just trying to launch the game and it's not working. I'm using Windows 10.
CrimsonGuardian
When in the Launcher go in Data Files and make sure all needed content is checked. Also I assume you used to mod Oblivion before. Remember that if you modded manually and did not uninstall the mod afterwards, uninstalling through Steam will leave the mods in the Oblivion/Data folder. As a result if you reinstall, Steam will look for the same folder and readd the missing files to make Oblivion work. The fresh install will still have mods in its data folder which might prevent Oblivion from working properly. If you are 100% sure you have no mods at all, simply Verify the Integrity of the game cache on Steam. Just rick click on the game and select "Properties" and in the "Local Files" tab you'll see the option "Verify The Integrity of Game Cache" This will reacquire whatever files that you are missing. bben46
If you are reinstalling Oblivion on a computer that had a previous copy of Oblivion, Beth screwed this up badly. The uninstall does not uninstall some things that must be uninstalled in order for a new install to work. I made an old complete uninstall reinstall procedure that has been used by many people to get Oblivion working again. vram1974
Oblivion was on a fresh install on a new computer so there was no reason for it not to work, however I removed all the files and in my second install it worked. I must have done something wrong while setting it up but I'm not sure how. It's all working now so thanks for the suggestions.
