MShoap13
If your on a 64 bit OS and have more than 2GB of RAM, you can try the LAA patch as it helps curb the games memory leak. Most of what you have going on there is graphical, and it all adds to the amount of memory Skyrim abuses (yes, abuses). If you've added a different LAA patch to Skyrim, it was removed by the Steam update last week. They released a new .exe that is more closely tied to Steam. This overwrites your old .exe so if it had the LAA flag it doesn't anymore, and if you use any other LAA patch on the new .exe it won't run as Steam now verifies the executable. Outside of this your only option is to remove your higher map size textures or replace them with lower resolution versions. scatlm
I had the crash problem with fxaa + enb + retexts until I changed it manually to use 4gb since I couldnt get the skyrim4gb.exe to work. Here is HOW to stop crashes: 1. Download Explorer suite also known as CFF explorer @ http://www.ntcore.com/exsuite.php 2. Once you install it, run it, and follow the instrucitons below: Click the folder icon or go to File -> Open and browse your PC for TESV.exe. Click on File Header at the left, find Characteristics at the right, and click the Click here blue button. Tick App can handle >2GB address space. Click OK.Save by clicking the disk icon or going to 'File -> Save. Overwrite the file when it asks you to. If it doesn't let you overwrite just rightclick TESV.exe and uncheck the "read-only" box. THEN OVERWRITE. This is the manual way of doing the 4gb fix. And it is guaranteed to smooth out gameplay but most importantly stop the crash to desktop. GOOD LUCK
scatlm
Also, keep in mind it is good to keep a backup in a seperate folder of the original TESV.exe -- just in case. Edited November 29, 2011 by scatlm
MShoap13
That won't work if you got the recent steam update. It checks to see if you've altered TESV.exe, including adding the LAA flag. The mod I linked to earlier adds the flag into TESV.exe after it's been initialized through the use of a helper.dll, hence it's the only known working 4GB patch for Skyrim at the moment. MShoap13
The LAA patch I linked to requires you to launch Skyrim through it's launcher, not the default launcher. Also, using two different LAA patching solutions at the same time could potentially cause all kinds of quirkiness. I recommend using one or the other.
