XunAmarox
Nope... Only thing I had any measure of difficulty with were dragons, and that's just cause they're damn near impossible to hit with my bow and they don't land nearly enough. Nothing else, really. Except maybe some of those really insane drauger early on, if I didn't get the drop on them. I'd still win though. But for me, I'd quick save often and if a sneak attack failed I would always reload. Why? I wanted each of my kills to be perfect and flawless, completely undetected. I redid some things over and over even 10+ times just to get it perfect stealth kills. I could have passed them easily on the first try even without perfection, but I still went for being perfect just for my own satisfaction. With a bow and a dagger, you can kill just about any number of npc's without them ever reaching you.
frapfap
get the "Dragonrend" shout, it forces them to land, and use that shout everytime its off cooldown so they stay grounded till u kill them.

You can't get that until the game is almost over. Besides, they always land in the most inconvenient of places, at their own leisure.

XunAmarox
About 70% of the time I use it, they fly for about 10 seconds and end up landing on the top of a cliff or mountain or somewhere equally inconvenient. Meeting with Ebony geared Draugr Deathlord on Master diff with sneaky character on level 10 was probably the most difficult thing I encountered in Skyrim so far  And you can hit flying dragons with bow, practise :P Edited November 28, 2011 by elvinkun

Lucubration
I think that's the way it's supposed to work. It's how my character does it, anyways. I've been having far fewer problems with being caught flat-footed since I got the Invisibility spell, though ;) I play with no armor, only some nice-looking clothes, all enchanted up for bonus to one-handed damage, illusion cost reduction, and stats. It's actually been working very, very well. Can't get enough of the throat-cutting assassination animation.
QueenOfThieves
I was having the same exact issues in the lower levels. What I did was join the Dark Brotherhood and got the fancy shrouded armor. I also concentrated on leveling up Stamina which allows me to do more power strikes, then the battle never really lasts long enough for me to get hurt too bad. And invest perk points into basic blade/archery damage early so you can kill with fewer strikes. You know, best defense is a good offense type thing. I also invested a lot in Magicka so I could perform illusion spells. The calm and fear spells work wonders on charging bears and sabre cats. Also, as an alchemist, I make plenty of restore health potions and have them with me at all times. Then if things really get bloody, I can usually slip/run away long enough to gain some health back. Yes. Running like hell as served me well in this game. :P I haven't had that much trouble with dragons on default settings. I invested in basic damage with my bow and use poison a lot. I also usually have my husband, Marcurio, travel with me a lot. He's been a BIG help. I've been thinking about making life a little more challenging and playing as an Agent type class like I did back in Oblivion. With no specialization in armors, it makes things quite interesting. Edited November 29, 2011 by QueenOfThieves
