frapfap
So ive beaten the game again (so far on my rogue, mage, and marksman) and was thinking of making a "tank" this time im thinking of going with bound sword +shield, or maybe a plate dual weilder, or a one-handed leather rogue with a sheild (cuz i love the thieves guild questline) give me ideas as to what you have done with yur toons, and the pros/cons
tilcir
Try out a Nord (for the 50% frost resist) with Block, Heavy Armor, 1H, Smithing and Enchanting. Slo-mo shield bashing or sidestepping is more fun than most of the other characters I have played. Dont make the mistake of incetsing mainly into health, as you will take very little dmg. Stamina is golden with a shield.... Bam bam thank you mam
frapfap
well damage wise how are the shields? i was thinking of just using bound sword + random shields i find cuz i have a lot of experience with the bound weapons (sword and bow) and they a lot of damage with the mystic binding perk which increases bound weapon damage plus perks from the one handed tree (and marksman tree) also apply to them i love bound weapons cuz then you dont have to worry about enchants or weapon smithing i killed alduin (last dragon boss) with my marksman / bound bow in like 8 shots about 30 minutes ago. ive beaten the main story/thieves guild/dark brotherhood 3 times now without enchants or smithing, so i really dont think i need it ><
Handofbane
Damage from the shield itself is pretty low, at least early game (only gotten to 20 on my sword/boarder), but the bonus stagger chance more than makes up for it. It takes a little practice, but once you get used to the timing you can pull off a bash followed immediately by a power attack of your own while your enemy is staggered, with a very high chance of an instagib on most generic humanoid enemies. Edit: I invested primarily in health, with about a 20% investment in stamina. Not because of any worry about taking much melee damage, but because fireballs hurt like hell, and you will need the extra health to be able to close in on casters alive (especially the ones that slow your movement down).
