Lost on how to get MNC textures to work.

I just got bought F:NV off Steam and I am completely lost on how to get the NMC Textures mod to work. I've downloaded all of the .rar files and the Fallout Mod Manager. I've extracted the Data folder, but I don't know where to place it in the Fallout: New Vegas folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\NewVegas).

Do I just copy all of the texture files from the data folder that I extracted from the .rar files to the data folder located in the NewVegas folder?

Thanks!

Almost! just put the data folder itself (with all the textures in it) into the NewVegas folder.

Oh and if you haven't, download the ArchiveInvalidation Tool and run it. Further instructions on that download page.

It is an amazing package and it made my fallout experience so much better. I am getting a lot of crashes in New Vegas though, I am worried it might be to do with the textures. In Fallout3, the textures would load while I crossed the wasteland, and this would cause the game to freeze for 2-3 seconds every now and then, but I lived with it. In falloutNV, it seems to just crash completely when that happens. I am doing everything I can to fix that, leaving the NMCs texture mod to last (I really hope it's not that! can't play without it.....)

Thanks drkaii!

Won't that replace the data folder that's currently in the NewVegas folder? I not in front of my computer right now, because I am at work. I will check once I get home.

Thanks again!

Well that's what I wondered way back when I started getting into the mod scene of the fallout games. I had a pretty packed data folder from a few years ago when I first installed the game and had a quick fiddle, so I had long forgotten that the data folder only exists for mods.

Basically, those .bsa files in the Fallout New Vegas folder are what the game uses by default. If you use something like FOMM to have a peek inside the .bsas, you will find the folder structure and all the files that the game uses, and any mod you install will have to mirror that structure in the data folder. Mods work by putting their own "versions" of the files found in those .bsas and telling the engine to use those instead (that's what archiveinvalidation invalidated is for). Seeing as you don't actually touch the .bsas themselves when installing a mod, you don't replace the original files, and can delete your mod at anytime.

That being said, if you have a Data folder already, you must have installed a mod or two, and if you are prompted to overwrite existing files, it will have an effect on those mods.

I got the textures working (i think), the only mod that I downloaded was a DLC that bought off steam. So I simply moved the contents of the data folder that I extracted from .rar files, and I placed them inside the data folder of my New Vegas folder. I then lunched New Vegas and it said that New Vegas is powered by the NMC textures. I didn't have time to play last night. Hopefully I will have time today.

Thanks again!
