toabreathlessoblivion
Hello everyone. For a few days now the ambient music that plays if you have the radio off will not work. Same goes for the main menu music. I can't find any fix to this at all, so help would be appreciated. And yes, the volume is all the way up in the settings. dubiousintent
Audio is controlled in two places: in Windows itself and in-game. The wrong setting in either can cause this problem. For Windows, use the "Control Panel | Sound | Sounds" tool tab to test that it is configured correctly. If you hear the test sound ("asterisk" works fine for testing) then the problem is an in-game setting. If you don't then you have to get the correct device configured for either "speakers" or "headphones" depending. In-game the settings are under the "[Audio]" section of both the (default) "Fallout.INI and (your customized) "FalloutPrefs.INI" files, which are located in your "C:\Users\<YourAccountName>\Documents\My Games\FalloutNV" folder. You can either rename both files and let the game rebuild them, or check the "music" related settings such as "fDefaultMusicVolume=" are non-zero and also loud enough. The "fDefaultMasterVolume=" setting controls overall volume relative to the individual audio settings. So a Master Volume of "1.0" is "100%", but if the "Music" setting is "0.6" then the ambient music will still only be 60% of what it could be. Be sure to compare the settings in both files. I believe (but have not tested) that "Prefs" overrides the settings in the default INI. -Dubious-
