Ni Tri Shapes sizing differently in game?

I am hoping for a bit of help. I found some tutorials on nifskope mashups, and I've been trying to add iron armor to monk robes. I have iron cuirass only, both _0 and _1, and the same with pauldrons. All have had their scale tweaked slightly, in nifskope, but it seems like in game only one piece is actually scaling?

 

On a large player, the cuirass only is fine, but on the pauldron version, they don't seem to grow with the cuirass. On a smaller player (female follower) the pauldron set is fine, but the cuirass only allows robe to show through, even though it doesn't in nifskope.

 

I've created Ni Alphas for each mesh, like the tutorial said, set them to 135, etc. Once I noticed the problem, I tried removing bogus nodes, combining properties, and updating tangent spaces. Nothing seemed to change. I am hoping someone can spot what I'm doing wrong, please.
