jackalhead
Alright, so after doing the camera fix to the .NIF files, I have been playing around as various monsters. Now, I notice that almost all bipedal creatures (except for the falmer) can attack with weapons. Quadrupedal creatures cannot, however. Some creatures like the dragon and the dragon priest can use spells to attack, but can't do melee. For example, in some of the pictures you'll see below, you'll see my dragon priest character throwing fireballs with his right hand and spraying flame jets with his left hand. Draugr and skeletons can use pretty much any weapon in the game, including bows and arrows. Giants, on the other hand, are limited melee weapons. Something else I noticed is that in order to get your falmer character to have his helmet show up, you have to wear the falmer helmet variety. Other helmets don't show up. However, this is not how you get the armor to show up. Instead, you have to do a fileswap which I am planning writing a tutorial on later. Anyways, just wanted to share some strange details I found about all this. :] Enjoy the screen shots below. http://i1082.photobucket.com/albums/j371/Jackalhead1/enb2011_11_28_21_53_26.jpg http://i1082.photobucket.com/albums/j371/Jackalhead1/enb2011_11_28_21_54_10.jpg http://i1082.photobucket.com/albums/j371/Jackalhead1/enb2011_11_28_21_53_13.jpg http://i1082.photobucket.com/albums/j371/Jackalhead1/enb2011_11_28_5_41_30.jpg http://i1082.photobucket.com/albums/j371/Jackalhead1/enb2011_11_28_5_22_36.jpg http://i1082.photobucket.com/albums/j371/Jackalhead1/enb2011_11_28_22_26_3.jpg
Shantih
Nice experiments. Looks like you've had some fun trying this out.
jackalhead
Hahah I really did. I'm excited to find out what I need to do exactly in order to enable quadrupedal creatures to do their melee attacks.
danshive
It's possible that the quadrupeds are, technically speaking, equipped with weaponry. This seemed to be the case in Fallout 3. The mole rat, for example, had a specific attack that technically counted as a weapon. These "weapons" would not be usable by the player by default and I'm assuming using the race command in Skyrim doesn't add them, but I think giving them "unarmed" attacks will be fairly simple once the kit comes out. You'll just have to paradoxically equip them. EDIT: Or, assuming the "beast form" of choice is coded as an ability, the effect could automatically equip them for the player upon transforming. I suspect this is how the current beast form you can actually use in-game works. Edited November 28, 2011 by danshive
throttlekitty
Why not use the original creature>player thread to post each new finding in? It's much more helpful to others who might not be aware of it, or finding the threads a little later.
Shawkab
I would love being able to play a skeleton with armor on.. How hard would that be to mod?
Levgre
Someone needs to make a full mod conversion where you are an animal that travels through animal towns and you do animal quests, and you fight monsters and humans. And you have different species traits for Skeevers, wolves, bears, spiders, etc. Edited November 28, 2011 by Levgre

I wonder how we find the names of these invisible creature weapons so we can put them in the beast form transformation script.

I wonder how we find the names of these invisible creature weapons so we can put them in the beast form transformation script.Assuming we wait for the creation kit, should be easy. Just open up the creature in the editor and BAM! It'll be in the creature's inventory. Then it's just a matter of copying the "weapon" and checking the "playable" checkbox or whatever. In theory, anyway ^^;
