mwilde
I love playing stealthy archer types. In my first playthrough (that I am about half way through) I have played as such. So far I have done all of the DB quests and some of the Theives guild quests. My understanding is that the TG set you get at the end is better than the DB armor set for stealth archers. This got me thinking, for those who have played more than I have. In future playthroughs as a stealth archer, what quests/faction lines would you do early on, and why? Also, what about crafting? I have heard it is pretty good but I've hardly bothered with any of it myself. Thanks

xlr8films
I'm a stealthy archer (ever since Oblivion) but I haven't done any of the Thieves Guild quests (yet.) Only the DB, and I was able to get through those with no problem. I'm still on my 1st character and totally missed the boat on crafting. I'll roll down that path on my next. I've heard good things about Enchanting/Smithing.
TheSuey
Enchanting/Smithing is TOTALLY :wallbash: broken for melee/tank characters, dual wield dps goes off the charts when you abuse the system but i imagine that it would provide a great boost for archers.
lordandromeda
Not exactly early-game stuff BUT Dragonscale armor, not plate, is probably the best craftable light armor. Looks... okay, a little odd for me but then I'm not happy with any skyrim armor designs. Once level 30, you're gonna LOOOOOOVE the Boethiah quest. She wants everyone killed in a VERY stealthy way.I'm actually trying to level my chanting and such so I can craft a suit or armor just to boost my skills to take them on. xlr8films
Yeah but they look a lot better then oblivion. Agreed. But anyone in Skyrim's Ebony armor -- especially with a helmet -- reminds me of a Sith Lord.

mwilde
From what I've read you get a pretty nifty bow at the end of the thieves guild quest line, however the bow you get is leveled, so if you get it early it might not be as good once you've leveled up a bit. On the other hand, by doing the quests you open up a lot of fences to sell stolen goods too which will help your income if you steal a lot.
