gmar84
I did a search on the forums for "Dual Wield" and a plethora of results showed up. So I am not really sure if this topic has already been brought up, it could have been talked about to death and if so, my apologies, I'll go get in line. Currently, when dual wielding weapons, you only have one showing on your hip. This annoys the ever-living shart out of me!!! And when you go to equip your weapons, the second one just "appears" in your hand. So, if someone could fix what Bethesda should have implemented, I would be grateful. Also, if you could make double swords sheath onto your back with the animations to accompany, that would be way awesome. But I am not a modder so I don't know how much can be done about the issue at hand without the SDK.
gmar84
I forgot to add one more thing to my post. When sprinting with dual wield weapons ready, your character looks absolutely ridiculous. Specifically, your left arm. Would be nice to change this. Elizinator
yeah, the fact that your off-hand weapon just POOF vanishes when you sheathe is frankly silly, and on bethesda's part, EXTREMELY lazy. in order to get dw, we gave up spellcasting with two-handed weapons, and they cant even make it look half-decent? im pretty displeased about this too. so someone fix it with mawds! btw, there is already a decent animation fix for DW, especially running and idle stance. shouldnt be too hard to find on nexus. DovahYol
+1!!!!! We need to be able to sheath BOTH our weapons.
nesquiker
Maybe I just suck w/ dual wielding but I don't get why we would ever attack with only one weapon. Shouldn't one attack button initiate a dual wielding attack and the other button activate a block?Am I alone on this one? I really don't get the current dual wielding system. I'll admit I only tried it for a little bit and decided it was garbage.
Blazord
Dual wielding is quite powerful, so I'd hardly call it "garbage". I'd say it's the highest front end DPS by far as long as your actually landing your blows. You can pretty much kill anything with two power attacks very easily, most of the time just one. This far outclasses two-handed weapons, and destruction magic. I do agree however, that they should have implemented two sheaths. It seems very lazy to half hardheartedly implement it like that. Though when you consider though how they added dual-wielding to Oblivion even despite the fact it wasn't designed for it, adding a second sheath and the appropriate animation will be trivial, in comparison, once the construction set is released and someone who knows what they are doing gets motivated. :) Edited December 3, 2011 by Blazord
mindinavoid
I kind of like the left and right separation with the dual-wielding in the game now; if you're fighting an enemy and you have two different enchanted weapons, you can, say, backhand the Flame Atronach he summoned with your ice axe and follow that through by smacking him upside the head with your lightning mace. THAT SAID, I agree wholeheartedly on the matter of the sheathes. Currently my main character offhands an Orcish dagger and uses Summon Sword for his right; the dagger quite literally appears in his hand. I like that, as he's supposed to be extremely dextrous and deadly at close range. When my other character runs around with a pair of Ancient Nord Axes and only one appears on the hip, however, then there's a problem. Since there are different sheathe points for different weapons now (axes stay on the right hip, instead of the left, for instance) it shouldn't be hard at all with a script extender to place the off-hand weapon in the opposite place. From there it's just a matter of modifying the animations so that you draw from the necessary location for each hand. Maybe a stylish "cross-draw" animation for dual swords? As an interesting alternative, though, I'd like to see a "summon weapon" mod wherein the Dragonborn draws all weapons using the Summoned Sword or Summoned Battleaxe animation (albeit a bit faster). Maybe give the Draugr or some other powerful characters the animation too. Just a flicker of light and HOLY *caw!* HE'S GOT A BROADSWORD RUN. Granted, it throws realism out the window, but by far less than the dozens of modern lingerie mods that will start cropping up once the Kit releases.
