xenxander
I posted this in elderscrolls forum, but one should always keep their options open, so I will post here as well. And yes I searched here and there, though true my key words may have not bee exactly what may net me to something similar so if there is something like this already, that is wonderful. I am not trying to spam of course - not my intention, merely to have a different group also look at and consider my requests: The first mod I wish to suggest is very simple (at least I -think- it's simple. I just tried my hand at the construction set and I must say I really need a walk through on it):To add a small chest in the Arch-mage's private quarters, which has all the "master" level alchemy apparatus available. The game already hints that he's an obsessive alchemist (hence why he has that enchanted chest), so it would make sense that he has all the master items. Now this chest's lock cannot be picked, you must have the key. and there will be two. One can be pick-pocketed from the Arch-mage himself if you find him, the other is laying around in the grounds before entering the reception hall of the university. He entrusted the other key to a fellow mage who seemed to have lost it. I was thinking it would be cleverly concealed outside the gates (NOT on the university side, so that anyone can find it.. it's an easter egg if you will). Perhaps an existing character can have an added topic (troubles?) and if she/he likes you enough they can simply say, "I seemed to have lost something, that's all." it's not an official quest but it hints at it. Again I tired to add a chest to the Arch-mage's room but I just can't seem to make the construction set work right, else i would do this. This is to offer someone who's very cleaver at finding the hidden key (or sneaky enough to pick-pocket it form the arch-mage himself (if one can find him, and as a plus, this key can have a tag that is 'very' hard for him to NOT notice it gone, so you'd need to be rather high in sneak perhaps)) a chance at an early stage to get a "leveled" item without using console player.additem. as you could find master alchemy apparatus in Morrowind VERY early on, i would have liked to have seen this again somewhere... now for the second: (I think this one may be a bit more tricky?)to add a weapon which has a mesh like a gauntlet, with a small blade tip on each hand back - like knife-gauntlets. the animation to swing would be the "hand to hand" animation. it would be classified as a 'blade' but the skill gains for blade would be 1/100th that of normal blade gains, though it will train hand-to-hand at a normal rate (saying this, if it's not possible to remove the blade gains fully and just have hand-to-hand, else if possible just have it train hands and not blade). It's attack power would be 2, thus adding two to hand-to-hand. I think this 'can' be done by fiddling with the stats for the weapon. This will be a "two handed" weapon, so that you cannot cheese and have a shield equipped with it.. this may require the hands to be in front as if they were holding a sword but when attacking the animation becomes "punch". it wouldn't be perfect but it would at least be somewhat believable. Now why would you want this? simple, this will balance hand-to-hand, giving you a weapon you can poison and still punch with..
Abramul
The first is simple enough, although it might be best to use an indirect method to add the key to Traven. The second...I don't think real hand to hand weapons are possible. You could do it as gauntlets with a Fortify Hand to Hand enchantment, though. xenxander
I figured the first would be simple though again simple if you know how to use the CS, which the learning curve on is rather steep. I had thought the second would be tough but -maybe- doable. How do you mean, an indirect way? Put the key as an interest item for him, so that he would pick it up? as in, plant it on his desk and as he is in his room he would see it and nab it? Can you do this mod??? ^_^

Can you do this mod??? ^_^I was thinking more along the lines of having a script add it to him. Since he's a the Archmage, it's logical to expect that many mods might make major or minor modifications to him. As far as I know, only one mod can directly change a given object, so it's best to not change any significant characters if you can avoid it. Sypron
You suggested having a key on traven to be stolen, and a key outside to be found. When reading your suggestion of what you wanted my first guess was that the key would be given to you at the end of the mages guild quest line, doesn't that make more sense? Also, adding a chest to the game with some items in it is very easy, you should try it yourself as a personal project. Just read a guide.

Yes actually that 'would' be far better.. you could steal it or find it first hand (if you wanted to and didn't wish to become archmage) but if you became archmage, then you'll be given it as a reward. That's not a bad idea... I opened up the archmage room in the CS but it's TINY TINY TINY! and I can't figure it out... I mean seriously, I bet it's over simplified but without being shown first I really cannot understand how to use the tool. Edit:I had thought also that a new chest isn't needed. Perhaps just his wardrobe could be locked and the items put in there. This eliminates the need for a new chest while still adding what I feel is a good idea to his room. xenxander
I've come to think this is the better way to make the first mod: the Archmage has a chest in his room already. this is NOT a safe storage place even if you become archemage.. so this chest will now be locked and only the key will open it. you cannot pickpocket the key from Traven. You'll get it if you become archmage.. now if you have no intention of doing that, here's the alternative (and no hidden key this time):scattered throughout the other mage's guilds, you'll find 'one' piece of master level alchemy equipment. As there are more than four guild halls, you may not find a piece in a given guild hall.. and it won't always be out in the open.. it may be in a chest, or behind crates, wedged somewhere.. forgotten and collecting dust in an attic or down in a cellar.. maybe even in a box or crate... It's a treasure hunt for all four - so I suppose if you find all four and then become archmage you get two sets but it's not needed - one is always enough. I think this is a good alternative and still gives the option to get them early on, if you wish to spend a few hours searching.. and besides treasure hunts can be fun or excruciatingly taxing, depending on how you look at them *laughs* Now again, I may never get this done so if anyone can still do this, please say so.. but this evening I'll try and read some tutorials on the CS and try and make this, though it may require more skill than I have, as it will require a new key added, new scripting at the quest completion of archmage, which I have no idea how to do (which is why I was just suggesting a key which is a simple alternative - one you can find)...
