oZEPPELINo
I updated to the most recent Nvidia drivers yesterday optimistically considering they added AO support for Skyrim, however I can't get AO to enable. When I add TESV.exe to the Nvidia Control Panel from my Steam folder, it doesn't even show that AO is an option. Enabling it from Nvidia's list of games didn't work either; although I was at least able to tick the setting for AO. I've also tried enabling it using the Nvidia Inspector tool to no avail. Any suggestions on how I can make this work? Here's my computer specs: Win7 64-bitE8400 C2D4gb DDR2 800GTX5701TB WD Black
oZEPPELINo
Hey guys, after playing with it for a few hours I got it to work. Here's what I did: First of all, I could not get AO to work with the new nvidia drivers 290.36, this is using the nvidia inspector. -Add the TESV.exe to nvidia inspector, do not use the drop down list that contains "Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim"-From here all or almost all the graphic options should be disabled.NOTE: If you use the 4GB Skyrim mod, then you must add this file to the profile we are about to create. -Go back to the nvidia top 5 tweaks article and change your settings to be exactly like theirs. -Launch Skyrim -Here's what messed me up and I'm still not 100% how to get around it.-If the game throws the message to the effect of not being able to load some things and you might lose data; the game will load fine, but AO will not be enabled!-If the game loads with no thrown message, then AO should be enabled.-It seems like choosing "continue" over selecting a specific load file has less of a chance of throwing this message.-Also, it looks like loading saves from after the effect was applied do not throw this message either. This has worked for me and I hope it works for you, best of luck!
Cougar88889
I still can't get ambient occlusion working at all. I have trauled the internet and tried everything but nothing has worked. In Nvidia control panel I have Skyrim in the drop down menu but it has no icon just a blank window icon, I'm wondering if this has anything to do with it? I've tried a clean install of the 290.36 drivers but still nothing. HELP I really want AO in this game :(

StrengthOfTwoBears
Im having this problem too. going inside a building the lights and windows are bright enough but the light fades quickly to dark shadows. the light is not being bounced at all. i just updated my drivers to 296.10 im using windows 7 64-bitgeforce gtx560 i tried adding tesv.exe to the programs list and it just showed the already existing "Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" program. i tried setting Ambient occlusion to performance, quality, and off. with no luck.ill try setting it to nvidias recommended settings next. i remembered reading somewhere that the save files save a lot of weird information including stuff about graphical settings. in the read-me of one ENB they said to load, save, exit, and reload your game when uninstalling the mod and they said that this step is highly recommended. weirdso i tried starting a new game and the problem is still there.but ill keep trying. let me know if you guys get anymore info
spanian77
Guys AO is broken due to Skyrim 1.5 update,Beth knew that but releashed the patch anyway..Nvidia knows it too. That (and Skyboost mainly..) is the reason I use 1.4.21 and I am stuck with it.
