desolating
Ok so, i had a fallout NV run with some mods and was about 20 hours in the game. Yestarday i went to play some more and suddenly the game just kept on crashing. I Reinstalled everything and it kept on crashing. I then decided to reinstall the game without any NVSE/mods and it worked, i managed to enter my saves but without any mods. After that i ONLY installed NVSE and as soon as i press load/new game the game just crashes. Has anyone had a similiar problem? Its very confusing because it used to work really well and i never had this kind of problem. Thank you Edit: This happened (not 100% sure) after a windows 10 update.. maybe that's it? :/ Edited August 28, 2016 by desolating
VinnyOcean24
very possible it is a win 10 bug for new vegas since alot of those have been happening. But my guess is that you were able to play until you got to a point in the game where a mod conflicted an area. If you can post your load order and i can try to help you from there
desolating
I ran the game WITHOUT mods and it still crashed. Turns out it isnt NVSE thats causing this, but the fact that i renamed my d3d9 file so that it could detect my NVIDIA Graphic Card. I dont know why, but now i had to rename it back to the original name to make the game work, but now it isnt detecting my NVIDIA Graphic Card.. O.o
VinnyOcean24
nvse will rarely be the problem unless you have a mod built for a later version and your running an old version. you most likely need to clean your data folder and get all the mods out then run verfiy cache and go from there. desolating
its not about the mods.. its about that d3d9 file that i had to change in order for fallout to recognize my nvidia graphics card
VinnyOcean24
im going to go with nvidia has yet another bug for win 10 and it broke your game somehow. If you have zero mods running with that issue still that is my best guess check your drivers and or roll back to a previous one
dubiousintent
WHAT "d3d9.dll" file are you talking about that is required for the game to recognize the video card? The role of device recognition belongs to the OS. Games are supposed to gather that information from the OS (via DXDiag calls). The vanilla game itself does not include such a named DLL. The only mention of one in regards to FNV was a mod released back in 2010 as a "performance fix" that worked by faking "redetecting" the video card as an older one. It is no longer recommended and never was for Win10. Roy told you to remove ENB because there is DLL of that name used by the "wrapper" method of ENB to produce it's "post-processing effects". So, in the interests of clarity, please post the link to whatever said you needed one? Win10 AND nVidia driver updates have recently been causing problems for older games. The vendors can't check every game and application in existence, so older ones get dropped from their test suites. Check your "Windows Event Viewer" for "Application" and "System" errors occurring about the same time as you running the game. When in doubt, post the error messages here using the guidelines in this article. Reverting to the "system restore point" made just prior to installing the latest update is a reasonable option depending upon what the update is "fixing". Don't update video drivers without a solid reason why it applies to you. Were you using the game's built-in "auto-save" feature? That is known to cause corrupt save files, and the first thing that occurred to me upon reading of your initial problem. See the sub-topic Issue: CTD on interior/exterior/"fast travel" cell change for the explanation and alternatives. -Dubious- Edited August 29, 2016 by dubiousintent
