i thought she was cool, she is manipulative, cunning, deceiving, and does everything with her own benifit in mind and will do anything/f*** anyone over to get what they want and advance their own standing/career... kinda like me ><

Your character won't last long. The greatest enemy of a manipulative person is a more manipulative person.

thats why i have 5x toons lvl 36+ right? lol.. ive beaten that dark brotherhood, theives guild, mage guild and main story on all of them ><

i got a full mage (lvl 36

i gotta stealth mage (lvl 39

stealth assassin (lvl 38

stealth archer (lvl 52

tank (lvl 47

You realize that I meant in the geo-political complexities of Tamriel during the time of the story.

Not gameplay mechanics/quests...lol

if u lust for power, and gain that power, you can do anything. which is why maven has the whole town of riften in the palm of her hand, along with the theives guild and (depending on what side quests you do and learn about the story) the thalmore also. ><

What I was saying is that a person that is more manipulative than yourself would be your enemy because you cannot manipulate them, however, they can manipulate the people around you more so than you could yourself, thereby putting themselves in a higher position of power than you.

She also doesn't have the Thalmor in the palm of her hand. lol

What the hell does Maven has to do with a bunch of high elves who hates other races and only cares for their own interests?

It is stated she has "ties" with the Thalmor. The likely situation is that she is being used by the Thalmor to spy on the Empire.

From the moment I stepped into Riften and heard about that *censored* I vowed to obliterate her. I was annoyed I couldn't use the

Elder Scroll

and send her to another timeline or simply erase her from existence. She repeated the same things over and over on the

Thieves Guild Quests

and I wanted to just rip her head off.

I hope the modding community adds a quest to wipe out the entire family and to restore peace and remove corruption in Riften =)

...and this is why there shouldn't be any "essential" NPCs in game. I'd be willing to

break the Guild questline

in order to kill her. She's easily the character I hate the most in this game, which means they did a good job with her. She's like the Silver-Bloods in Markarth. I want to kill them as well. So, again, good job Bethesda... except that I can't kill them either.

I'll be writing that mod myself the first day the CS (or CK, whatever) is out. :pirate:

I thought that the point of radiant style play was to make it so that when someone dies another person takes their place. So I didn't figure that anyone in the game would be "essential" except for maybe Ulfric and Tullius.... but I guess not.

And although I don't like Maven at all....I came to realize what kind of person she was during the thieves guild quest line. Shes just a businesswoman. Just like MANY big American CEOs. But in the end... shes just a woman... not some invincible monster. She'll die eventually.

I've killed her in my game. I use the console codes to do it, but none the less, satisfying still.

I got to the console prompt, and typed "help Maven 0" (without the quotations) - it then came up with her NPC code, one for her as standard NPC the other for her as the Jarral (depending on where you are in the story). Then I typed "setessential 19DD1 0" or "setessential 1336A 0" ... you shouldn't have any trouble using this after you have run "help Maven 0" - from there she is completely killable.

If you kill her in public expect to pay a 40 to 1000 septim fine for the murder...after that no one really seems to care she is even dead. Her children including Sibi are equally vanquishable. In my game I made it my therapeutic mission to systematically wipe her an her progeny out of Tamriel for good. I went as far as to sack their mansion outside of town, and kill all their thugs and goons - think I assassinated their chickens and horse too.

Point is no one in the game world cares - or notices - she is even dead. You don't have to deal with her anymore and any quests related to her automatically conclude or fail. I had no quests active or related to her, when I killed her. I was basically head of the Theives Guild and the Dark Brotherhood and she mouthed off to me in a dialog with me (cause I left her alive after my console code re-arrangement) - when she said she could have me mugged by my own thieves, or killed by my own assassins I decided her patronage to our cause was no longer of any real benefit. Stupid Cow. The rest of the Black-briars just had to die on principle, I'm through if nothing else.

I thought when I started with the thieves guild that bringing it too power would let me rid riften of her rule and take over completely. sadly no dice. I also hated the silver bloods in the same way and also figured I would be able to truly affect the area by getting rid of them as well... no go.

still to this day Bethesda has stuck to the same old 2 sides for the main quest and very little alteration to the underlying politics or structure.

i look forward to mods that fix this or if they do releasing dlc that allow us to truly change things not just tweak something in secret and maybe we will get a magick item.
