i thought she was cool, she is manipulative, cunning, deceiving, and does everything with her own benifit in mind and will do anything/f*** anyone over to get what they want and advance their own standing/career... kinda like me ><

Your character won't last long. The greatest enemy of a manipulative person is a more manipulative person.

thats why i have 5x toons lvl 36+ right? lol.. ive beaten that dark brotherhood, theives guild, mage guild and main story on all of them ><

i got a full mage (lvl 36

i gotta stealth mage (lvl 39

stealth assassin (lvl 38

stealth archer (lvl 52

tank (lvl 47

You realize that I meant in the geo-political complexities of Tamriel during the time of the story.

Not gameplay mechanics/quests...lol

if u lust for power, and gain that power, you can do anything. which is why maven has the whole town of riften in the palm of her hand, along with the theives guild and (depending on what side quests you do and learn about the story) the thalmore also. ><

What I was saying is that a person that is more manipulative than yourself would be your enemy because you cannot manipulate them, however, they can manipulate the people around you more so than you could yourself, thereby putting themselves in a higher position of power than you.

She also doesn't have the Thalmor in the palm of her hand. lol

Whatever power Maven may have, a woman as well informed as her should probably know that in addition to her little thieves guild, I, the main character, am in control of the Dark brotherhood, Companions and College of Winterhold. I am also the savior of Tamriel and I have the backing of major political powers due to my participation in the war. Towns all over Skyrim have witnessed me felling dragons.

I have single handedly assassinated everyone on a ship, including the imperial royalty on board, what makes her think shes so safe?

If the AI were better, she'd be kissing my feet now and trying her best to sucker up to my side so that I can help her get things done.

This is a questline that needs a mod so badly. I'm playing an almost pure mage, I'm carrying around 3 unusual gems, I've got the first two TG quests in my journal and I have no interest in doing them; what I want to do (join with Mjoll and clear up Riften) Bethesda apparently hasn't considered.

Bethesda: please note, not everybody want to play a thief or assassin, not everybody looks at TESV as being a fantasy version of GTA4. At the very least there should be an option to delete quests you don't intend to do and preferably an option to do an anti-TG questline that sees you wipe them out and bring order to Riften. My playthroughs of Skyrim will eventually probably be with as pure a mage as I can manage, a melee warrior and, yes, a sneaky type. However, not all sneaky types are thieves, poisoners or extortionists, which is what the TG quests apparently push you towards.

The "R" in "RPG" stands for roleplaying, not railroading.

Interesting.

I find myself turned on by Maven. Her blunt yet manipulative personality, her influence, her power, her wealth. Dark hair, full lips, deceptive eyes... I'd gladly be her man-meat. I wish there was a quest line for that; become Maven's boy-toy along the way to saving Skyrim from rampant dragon infestation and avoiding national schism.

I hope some1 does a quest mod where we eliminate Maven out of the game.

ya know its gonna be funny if Maven wants to kill you, and summons the Thief Guild/Dark brotherhood, and you are standing there saying "I am the listener/Guild master" and she is gonna be like 'WDF'

Killing Maven via the console doesnt change anything, because Skyrim is a story-driven game and console-deaths are not taken into account. The satisfaction isnt there. Adding a quest line to either kill her organization OR make her the new Queen of the empire (or soemthing equally ridiculous) *should be* in the game ... right along with lots of other things (like Farengar NOT telling me to join the Mages College when I am the freaking Arch-Mage already ... and yadda yadda yadda). Farengar is at least useful as a vendor ... Maven is just a selfish *censored* bent on ruining the world for everyone except herself.

The easiest solution to add a quest to kill Maven would be to add in the option to kill her when you have to "convince" Vald to let you into Riftweald Manor ("The Pursuit", Thieves guild quest line) ... paying Maven, retrieving her goods OR killing Maven should solve his debt problem. That would just get rid of her in the quickest way, but it isnt very elaborate and rewarding. The Thieves guild should be wary of someone with that amount of power and could actually benefit from killing her (Mavens associates are probably "off limits" to being robbed and that is bad for business). Other organizations might want to see her gone as well.

Everyone who likes Honningbrew Mead over Mavens second-rate junk will want her dead!

I think the greatest issue with Maven is that she's completely out of character with you. She's supposed to be cunning and manipulative but she treats the PC as an incompetent subordinate from start to end. Being continuously rude and threatening with someone is a very stupid move. Eventually they'll get tired of being treated like that and come for you, particularly if you never make good on your threats.

I'm disappointed that Bethesda didn't take the time to change major players' behavior towards you after major questlines. If there's one thing that completely breaks immersion and fun for me it's not taking care of obvious plotholes like this. Particularly since all they had to do was get some people to replace some dialogue for characters such as Maven after certain quests are completed.

Very, very true. I can't say it any better. I haven't started the TG quest but probably have to, just because I want to complete other quests that cannot be done without joining the TG - same for the Mages College. And same for the DB quest line, but I've read about an alternative option to deal with them. ;) Reading the comments here makes me interested in meeting this person. At least someone with a personal and deep character, not just a pile of pixels controlled by scripted dialogues.

Yeah I agree, a quest line to kill her/deal with her would be ideal. This is kind of like people complaining that there is no quest line to stop or eliminate the thieves guild, since there is to eliminate the dark brotherhood. Someone may make a mod in the future though, with the CK released.

I agree. Why couldn't bethesda put in an option to kill her. I can't stand having her around. And even worse when having her as jarl. I have a character when shes the jarl of riften. And her guard asked her how they should escape the town if a dragon attacks. And she said something like ''the rest of the city can die, i'm to important to die''. Damn i can't wait till theres a mod out which adds this. I really wanna kill her and the rest of HER IDIOTIC FAMILY. Her son thinks hes better than my character with a sword. But sadly you couldn't kill him either ''SIGH''.

There are too many npcs in this game that you can't kill. Love this game but i hate it when you can't kill Maven or the rest of the essential npcs in the game.
