Crashing on New Game start

So I've been playing with this load order, it was bigger and working before, but I was getting some CTD with my save, and couldn't fix it. I reinstalled skyrim and all my mods, replacing a few and deleting others.

 

Now the game crashes when I try and start a new game and I can't figure out why, no errors in loot, am using crash fixes/shesons memory patch, no missing masters, have both bashed and merged patch, checked papryus error logs, said something about xmpse, so i reinstalled, same ctd on new game start.

 

Whats frustrating is I had this almost exact same load order working 2 days ago, all I replaced was dawn of skyrim with JK skyrim, but that shouldn't be causing crashes at new game start, should it?

Hello,

• Selective loading : untick 50% of your mods, beginning by the end of your load order and test in game. Then depending on if the problem occurs again or not, increase / decrease the remaining loading mods to find the culprit.
• Make sure you're using the good mods >> Dangerous mods list.
• Verify gamecache.
• CTDs troubleshooting page on Reddit, depending on what's happening in game, choose the subsections that describes the best your problem.
• Only YOU Can Prevent Forest Fires.

Here is a list of things that may help stabilizing your game if not already been done. :

/// Cleaning and correcting potential bugs :

• Clean your master files to eliminate potential problems : Tes5edit cleaning tutorial / Tes5edit documentation / Tes5edit Nexus page.
• The method above can be used to clean mods. LOOT may tell you which plugin you should clean.
• Mator's video fixing errors with Tes5edit. Merge plugins.

/// Load order / mods conflicts :

• Use L.O.O.T / Nexus page (& documentation).
• Create a wryebash patch including leveled lists.
• Create a merged patch with Tesedit excluding leveled lists
• How things work in Tes5edit : load order / conflict looser - winner / Forwarding / adding as a master. More specifically, you may create a manual patch between two or more mods.

/// Settings / memory :

• Preferably, use crash fixes with the UseOSAllocators=1 instead of skse memory patch or SSME.
• You may also install safety load if you experience infinite loading screens or freezing in game.
• Memory blocks log will help to refine memory settings.
• Skyrim performance monitor.
• Backup your ini files and delete the files. Skyrim.ini / SkyrimCustom.ini / SkyrimPrefs.ini found in C:\Users\User\Documents\My Games\Skyrim then use your vanilla launcher to autodetect and use best settings for your computer.
• STEP INI tweaking wiki.
• You may install ENBOOST >> ENB graphics / ENB haxx.

• Need to know informations about your harware, temperature, etc... ? Speccy may help you.
• Shut down background programs such as intellipoint, fan manager, etc... Need a tool to manage GPU fan speed that works with ENB ? You may try Afterburner, (tested)

thank you for the reply, it would seem my only option is to untick half my mods and go through them one by one to figure out whats causing this...

You can untick them by chunk of 10-15-20, as you wish. then when your are sure the faulting mod is in a particular chunk, use the one by one or two by two, etc...

When exactly is your game crashing? Does it crash as soon as you enter character creation or does it crash as mods are initializing immediately after?

 

If it happens as mods are initializing, try opening the character menu (Tab, or "B" on X-Box controller) and leaving it there for a second while a few notifications pass and then closing it again. I've found that doing this breaks up the amount of mods that the game has to load a little bit and makes it less likely to crash.

 

Also, are you cleaning your mods with TES5Edit? I recommend you do. Additionally, I recommend you build a merge patch with TES5Edit and build a Bashed Patch with Wrye bash.

 

If you're still having problems after this, I would try uninstalling mods or merging mods to get your active plugins down.

I hit "new game" the game loads, the music starts, and as soon as I'm about to enter the cell it crashes to desktop.

 

I tried loading an older save, and inside the space I'm in I'm not crashing, and I can even go outside, but two steps and back to my desktop.

 

I haven't gotten down to unticking them yet but it looks like thats what I'll be doing tonight :huh:

Well I got it working! All I had to do was uninstall everything, including Nexus Mod Manager and reinstall the game, then my mods with MO.

 

Everything seems to be stable and working now. I am now generating dyndolod which was the whole idea behind trimming my mods up.

 

Still can't figure out how NMM was borking my installation so badly, but oh well its working now. Thanks for the input.
