One Handed better than 2 Handed End Game Grindstone

I have tested on Ebony and Daedric weapons with max perks in smithing, one handed, and two handed. The one handed weapons can be improved on grindstones by over 2x and two handed weapons only 1.5x. Both styles should scale accordingly. If you look at base damages before using the grindstone... two handed weapons are almost double damage that of their one handed counterpart. After using grindstone... two handed weapons don't even do an extra 1/3 vs their one handed counterparts.

Has anybody else come to this conclusion? Or is something wrong with my game?

All fighting styles kinda have their ups and downs.

Dual wielding does MASSIVE Dps, far greater than anything else, but can't block (stupid, considering how actual dual sword fighting works)

Onehand + Shield has heavy defense, and retains mobility. Easily the best, due to the ability to survive multiple attackers.

Twohanded has range and the ability to sweep. Stay on the fringe of your range, and shieldbash anyone that gets too close, and you should have some leeway with your attacks,

Unfortunately, it seems mace + shield just destroys anything. Shields are the best weapons in the game, since you have guaranteed stagger early on, high defense, and the ability to mow someone down with the lvl 100 skill, for the cost of just regular sprinting's effect on stamina. Twohanded gets the short end of the stick (ironic) because all they get in exchange is range/sweep. The ability to have a mace with your shield just means that you almost completely ignore that 2h user's already inferior armor rating.

Also, the AI can't fight for crap.

Yep.

I haven't found a thread anywhere discussing this. Ruins any reason to use a two handed weapon. Wondering If I should just get the exact % increase from 1 handed increase and then player.setav smithing to a bogus number to match the % gain to make it equivalent so it scales properly

Easily the best

I lol'd.

?

I don't follow.

I decided to get the exact % of increase that a 1 hander gets from grind stone (they all differ though depending on make) and then using player.setav smithing (400 for example) to get the same % increase on the 2 handed variant. I don't cheat at all, I only mod. But, I feel that it isnt cheating to put the 2 handed wpns in line with 1 handed grind stone upgrades.
