BobA5835
Hello All: I just recovered from a nightmare with both Oblivion and Morrowind GOTY suddenly not working. The cause was, believe it or not, my 'Updated' ATI Radeon Driver 7.12. Seems all of the updates past 7.7 were hosed for Direct3D. ATI has just released an 8.1 and, very quietly, an 8.1 Hotfix which fixes the Direct3D issue which has been wrecking havoc with us ATI Graphics card owners. They have fessed up to this kinda' and the Hotfix is located here:http://support.ati.com/ics/support/default...uestionID=31542Their KB Reference is 737-31542. I spent hours researching my problems this weekend at all of the Forums and the Nexus Forums seemed to be the most helpful. I also downloaded Driver Cleaner Pro from http://www.guru3d.com/ just in case. I did use it after I 'deleted' my Catalyst stuff. It did find some Registry entries for sure. My error with Oblivion was that "Oblivion has encountered a problem" error message screen upon hitting the Play Button, and with Morrowind I got the "Render Creation Failed" error message after hitting the Play Button. I successfully re-installed Oblivion GOTY and my newly purchased plug-ins Spell Tomes and Mehrunes' Razor. All are showing in the Data Files and 'Elvis' was patiently waiting for me to return when I hit the Play button. Great Joy, once again! I e-mailed both Support and Support04 @ Bethsoft prior to posting the info here. Regards, Bob AllenBobA5835
BobA5835
Hello All: Quick update on my ATI driver issue. The 8.1 and 8.1 Hotfix didn't really 'fix' my computer after all. My OB started but I was trapped in my house in Burma. As soon as I tried to exit the computer crashed and informed me of a 'major error' occurance. :verymad: Re-installed older 7.7 drivers and now all of my games are working again. The only thing different is that the water in OB is now pink. Anyone know if there is an adjustment in the OB ini for color or if is this an ATI driver issue? Thanks in advance for any info! :thanks: BobBobA5835
