  1. 1. do you want the arrows in skyrim to be more realistic / not auto hit a target when it should have missed?

me and i know a lot of other people want this

arrows tend to get close to somthing head/etc and when its about to miss it move the arrow to their head/chest.

i want archery to be more realistic and fun and if an arrow is about to go over their head by a couple inches i dont want the arrow to auto target and hit it, i want it to miss.

with archery in skyrim you just have to get in the general area to hit stuff most of the time and its kinda boring/not challenging.

i included a poll to see other peoples thoughts on this

i dont know how to mod so hopefully someone can work on this :P

with being an avid real life bow hunter, i like realism in archery

the game is generaly easy. so i like this...

but we are playing a fantasy game and i also like to see extra archery perks modded like multiple arrows or fire arrows.

yeah i was pondering that the other day also, like multi shot perk with 3 stages, 1 point=2 arrows, 2 points=3 arrows, 3 points=5 arrows.

shooting ice arrows to reduce speed and stamina and spark arrows to reduce targets mana and fire for DoT effect (damage over time)

it would make a lot more sense than having to apply poisons constantly.. which i never do cuz you spend more time dicking aroudn with poisons than it would be if u just took the damage and let their buffs wear off and kill them..

they could just add an elemental archer class in general and incorporate bonus's from the mage weapons/conjured bow (which is what i use on all 3 my lvl 40+ arhcers)

that way you can buff yur fire, ice, electricity arrows through the destruction tree

Well, i tend to miss arrows when i fire them, even when it clearly goes through them, so i wouldn't like this.

This. Especially when you try to shoot from pretty far away I tend to miss a lot even when it looks like it should have hit them. I've also got into the habit of aiming for center mass since there don't seem to be damage bonuses for head or limb shots.

That said, while I don't think I want to see the hit box/"auto aim" change, I would love to see an overhaul to archery done. Things like the ice arrow, firing multiple arrows, etc. That would be something really cool and would really help set the archer apart as a "class"

id be all for it but i find that the archery isnt as acurate as it should be. the gravity on the arrows seems off some how. if bows were more acurate id be all for hit boxes being more acurate, head shot bonus 100% crit chance would be nice as well. Edited by drogun

I was actually a lot surprised they still haven't implemented bow hitboxes. I know it's about RP and stuff, but still how can it a good RP when you can't assassinate someone with a perfect hit in a head? A failure assassination should be about a miss or something. It's unrealistic, unimmersive, and just feels wrong. I would love the archery skill up to be affecting something else than damage. Of course at least you should learn as archer how to be more deadly, but archery at the beginning should be about: how accurate can you be, how long can you keep your arrow on a bowstring before you get exhausted and will release it in a random direction, how many arrows can you shoot till getting exhausted. Because that's what it's all about in reality. I really hate archery in TES. Please, please, PLEASE someone fix that.

i'd also like to see some more realistic archery. and definitely be able to headshot stronger characters, like bandit leaders etc ONE time, not several times before they die. also feels sort of dumb when i sneak up to someone and they notice me, but i still manage to launch an arrow between their eyes and it takes nothing but a 2% of their life. I feel I should be able to headshot him either way, noticed or unnoticed.

But asbziur says, making it more realistic with accuracy affected by skills and perks would be awesome too. At least giving the option for it would be wicked.

I like being realistic, that being walking around with 90 arrows in my quiver doesn't make sense to me, so I usually have a max amount of 15-20 arrows. But they disappear rather fast when I have to launch half my quiver into someones face even though I sneaked up to them and launched an assasination styled shot to their head.

Please someone fix the hitbox :]

Well.. there already IS a mod that increases the Archery realism.. Its called ABT or Arrows and Bolts Tweaks. Check this link: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/11941

Basically what that mod does.

- gives you the choice of changing the arrows/bolts speed (this is good cause arrows always fly so damn slow in Skyrim... makes you feel everything BUT master archer when even at skill lvl 100 you cant shoot)

- gives you the choice of removing the "magnetized heads".. the issue in question. (Its supposedly as easy as chaning few lines in .ini)

- How far you can shoot.. with this mod if you see an enemy in a far distance, if your good you can probably hit it....

- ... especially if you change the tilt angle, so that arrows fly straight much longer. You can possibly turn your Bow in to a modern sniper rifle like this lol (not recommended xD)

- tweak the damage of your arrows/bolts.

- increase/decrease the % looted arrows/bolts you get. Also increase/decrease the vendors ammo stocks.

- ... might be something I missed but I'm sure that was plenty already.

Also you can download a mod called ACE, which increases number of basic bow types to 2, ligh bow/long bow. Light bow=fast draw time, low damage, high change for crit, high sneak attack damage. Long bow=slow draw time, increased zoom in when crouching, much higher damage, perfect for sniping... Also gives you light and long arrows, though those seem to be more of a flavor that anything too great.

Those two mods make Archery classes much more fun ;) (without making them overpowered!)
