Creating a vest, next steps and HELP

Hi,

I am new to modding and I really need help.

I extracted Joshua Graham's armor, I am in desperate need of help:

1. How can I unlink the default textures? I think I did unlink the default textures, but when viewing with texture mode, it shows the texture.

2. What is my next step? I am having problems with UV Mapping, I cant export it with some errors popping up.

Here is my blend file.

Any help would be appreciated.
